But I mean how likely are they to melt? I bought high quality covers that we're guranteed not to melt. Obviously no guarantee is a guarantee but I don't take my car to tracks. It's just a daily driver that I'm working on as a visual project.

This is my caliper when I first painted it with VHT caliper paint, which is rated up to 900*F.

Don't worry about it. IMNSHO, the covers are a bad idea - both performance-wise and aesthetically - but opinions are like a$$holes; everybody's got one. ;)

It's your car. It's your money. Do whatever you want to do with both. Whether I, or anybody else, like it doesn't really matter.

It tends to get a little rough around here, but that's part of what I like about it.

As someone else pointed out, poor-quality materials and/or installation can be a safety hazard. Do your homework.

Just providing a somewhat extreme example, which btw is my DD.

I guess it also depends on how the OP drives his car. Some like to take it easy and others live their lives a 1/4 mile at a time. :icon17:

OP you're only getting the flame treatment because, as you can plainly see, that mod is considered cheap garbage with no real function and can cause problems in certain situations (you may or may not be able to avoid those situations). I personally view them as a safety hazard :twocents:

Mike the Powdercoater does great work and would be the best option in terms of quality, longevity, and you're helping out the forum and a great sponsor

Asking out of ignorance..but don't the sport brakes have "covers" or are those the actual caliber?

I do..I just haven't ever taken them apart or anything. As far as I knew they could have been a cover over the upgraded brakes :ugh2:
