Doran Racing NISMO RC suspension parts
2 Attachment(s)
Just wanted drop sneak shots of the Doran Racing front upper control arms, rear toe arm, and camber arm (for those running a true rear coilover..this arm replaces the bulky spring bucket)
These arms were designed for use on the NISMO 370Z RC that we are campaigning in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series... The rear arms adjust simply and quick.... using an allen to loosen the clamping bolts...then turning the adjuster on the arm with a wrench...and retightening the clamping bolts. The front upper control arms are cnc'd billet alum and the adjustment is changed using shims that will be supplied with the arms. The arm itself is very light weight ...coming in at just under 1lb ...not including the sphericals. Dwnshift |
Front arms are suppied by NISMO, Nissan USA. RJN Motorsports (UK) or Doran-Racing designed/sourced ??
|
Shims are definitely the way to go for the front uppers, no way for that to slip and go out of alignment like all the other designs I've seen. Also like that it is lightweight yet strong like the OEM piece, the aftermarket steel ones are very heavy. Any idea on approximate adjustment range?
Thanks for the pics! |
BGTV8...these arms are designed and produced in house at Doran Racing....availability will most likely be through Nissan Motorsports Parts in the US.
ChrisSlicks... at this time I am not positive on the full range of adjustment..def something that is being sorted and tested. The parts that we are developing are geared towards racing and hardcore track applications. The bushings in the rear arms are also machined delrin. The series we are in will not allow us to make new rear "traction" arms at this time but we are allowed to change out the bushing. Dwnshift |
I want the front arms
|
Wait till ya see our sway bars ;)
Again... race and hardcore tracking purposes....but makes other bars look cute. Dwnshift |
I'll take one of everything. God, you've no idea how long I've been waiting on some legit suspension parts. SPC can suck a... lol
|
In for front upper arms. I will buy these ASAP.
|
We now have carbon headlight covers that replace the entire headlight housing.
Both Headlights were damaged at Barber... They are not heap units to replace and you can't gets parts.... You have to get the entire housing. Anywho.... They remove about 35 lbs as well... I'd post pics if I could figure out how to post from my iPod ;) Dwnshift |
sweet!

great news! thx for the update!

Front arm installed (Doran upper shock mount shown as well)
|
carbon headlights pics are posted in the weight reduction thread upabove
;) |
Question: What is the purpose of the modified shock mount? For quicker install and removal, or in order to accommodate a different shock design?
|
For running with AST / Motons
|
this thread has me all warm and happy inside!
|
Eeeeee What good news to find upon returning from ZdayZ. ETA on availability?
|
Anyone seriously interested on the front arms please PM me.
Once I return from this trip ...I'll get with the boss and see ETA and pricing. Dwnshift |
sub'd. I am interested on pricing as well.
|
Kudos for building these parts, I'm sure the track/HPDE junkies will be all over this.
|
Great to see you back in a Z! Best of luck this season!! Looking forward to all the parts :)
|
With your front arms, how are you facilitating caster adjustment?
Also, for anyone reading this thread, is there a good list of "True" coil-over sets available that remove the need for the big spring cup in the rear? |

The main purpose of our control arms is camber adjustment.
Minor adjustments of caster could be made but not sure how much actual change would occur. For all intense purposes let's just say camber only ;) Dwnshift PS: add AST/ Motons to that list :) |

I see, so what are you doing to correct caster errors? |

In talkin with Kevin today.... we have made 3 different blocks which change the caster.
My thinking is that differences in Z's castor readings could be brought on by the oem control arms themselves and the OEM rubber bushings pushed inside of them. With our control arms you could shim them forward or backwards a touch where they mount to the chassis and have some adjustment.... Not sure how much. But... again... The main purpose of our control arms is being able to have camber adjustment. So are you looking for more caster or just trying to even it side to side? Dwnshift |

Since reliable adjustment is probably not possible with our front suspension without some gnarly stuff, I just want to be able to even it up. My Z (and I think most folks) has more caster on the drivers side than the left, and sometimes it does some strange things under heavy braking/steering input. It's got about half a degree more. Wouldn't be nearly as big of an issue on AST/Motons with race springs since the amount of suspension travel is so reduced as compared to my setup, so I could see how you wouldn't really care, but it would be nice. Thanks for the work you're putting in to development here.. any official pricing yet? Thanks again! |
Copy that.
In the short time we have had this car and in talking with Am guys from last year... there is a lot of stuff. Here is a little tid bit for ya to stew on.... We just went through the entire car and replaced all the OEM rubber bushings with our own delrin and Al. versions. When we took the car apart... we didn't touch the springs.... keeping the ride height where it was.. Once we installed our new bushings ... And reinstalled the ASTs with springs... The ride height had dropped 2.5"......they (oem bushings) create that much bind. The OEM rubber bushings are evil in all sorts of ways on this car. Our suspension now is like butter without load on it. I cannot wait for next week .... It's going to be a whole new car in Sooooooo many ways. ;) Dwnshift |
How about making a kit of Derlin bushings for our suspensions?

We have everything designed and programmed.
;) Right now it's timing.... and there are other projects in line. On the Z side.... Front control arms for instance. We are full tilt... getting ready for Mid Ohio next week and have races June and July. If we can have a solid run at Mid Ohio... it will help things move along more smoothly in the fabrication dept at the shop. |
Crap! Mid-Ohio already?! I was hoping to head down to watch but i'm not sure I'll make it.
Good luck! |

I can't believe I'm just coming across this. Very very interested in both front and rear setups. I run true type coils (always).
PM pricing |

Sorry guys the shop has just been slaaaaaammed. Everything has been noted. This is a biiiiiiiiiiig week for us.... I can't emphasize BIG enough. Looks like we prob won't be able to shake down the car before Thursday as there are still some odds n ends to sort out and finish. :( But I do know that we will have a great weapon for the race. If we can get through this week... and have a good race underneath our belts.. then we can start looking at $$$$ and production. Dwnshift |
