This is suspension...not an exhaust system.
Tracking at high rate of speed... Or going through an intersection..
A fail... Isn't worth it.

While I agree with Sphon that your arms are overkill for most of us, and it will be a great pleasure for us to have you guys produce lesser and cheaper version, I also agree that you guys are not in the business to build 8/10 products.

Perceived quality and reputation of a brand is very hard to maintain and very easily lost. You guys are professional race team, rightfully so the parts you guys make should reflect circuit grade.

We will just have to wait for SPL, patiently....patiently....patiently....

It's just "2 more months" guys lol

Well apparently it doesn't matter if your stuffs made out of diamondcarbfibertitaniumalloymegasteel. If your factory sheet breaks, who cares! Haha

Thats my car.....My driver front hub assembly snapped on me last night. How? Good question. I was going 25 mph, made a right hand turn and the car decided to go straight into some high brush. Almost a clean break all the way across. Possibly a defect but how can I prove that?

I'm running PowerTrix R/T coilovers. I really like them.

Dwnshift 08-03-2013 05:48 AM

Chrischchorn
Sorry ... that does suck.
Glad you (and anyone else)are okay.
This is exactly the situation that I am referring to.
One instance like this... And it's not good at all.... for anyone.
While suspension parts are not as "fun"
as bolt on parts that produce HP gains... there is far more at stake.

On these cars suspension work will net better lap times with all NA mods combined.

sig11 08-03-2013 10:21 AM

Only if it's set up right! A friend of mine was running Zeal Function-X coilovers on his 350Z in TTB only to have one blow two years ago shortly before NASA Nationals. He threw the stock shocks with 60,000 miles on and went faster. :P

It would be very hard to prove. The impact that eventually caused it to snap could very well have been a long time ago, and it slowly weakened over time eventually cracking all the way through. Or it could be a casting defect. To prove it conclusively enough to get some kind of compensation you would most likely have to send it to a company that does materials analysis and see if they would do something like that. I've got a buddy who works for an oil and gas related destructive testing company, and it's the kind of thing they do but usually on a much larger scale for a much larger price tag.

exactly. I'm better off just paying the $500 deductible and getting her back on the road. I'll be approaching Nissan with it but doubt it'll go kuvh farther. USAA has also decided on their end its not worth it for them either. At least at this point in time

cv129 08-03-2013 01:33 PM

^ yea pay the deductible and call it a day....

That part should never snap like that, imagine if you are on the highway! Glad that it was low speed. However, I think if you take this to Nissan, they are gonna blame on the aftermarket parts (285 RS3, coilovers, more aggressive alignment, blah blah blah).

Actually my alignment was in spec at this point in time. -1.4 camber in front and -1.6 in the rear but yeah, the aggressive tires and coilovers would be their argument. It's an impossible argument to win even if it had happened right in front of them.

People are worried about the SPC arms slipping? My situation, the spindle arm broke before the arm slipped lol. :roflpuke2:

The other was a result of hitting a kerb at Laguna Seca iirc.

i know one was high speed track related but mine... 25mph TRYING to make a right hand corner that it never began to turn on....going straight for the loss. Not even my Project Mu pads stopped me with 2 front wheels facing 2 different directions...

Skeet

Chuck33079 08-06-2013 07:00 PM

So we're expecting them to actually be out this time? I mean, we've heard comments like that before. Never with a pic, but until I can click "add to cart" I'm going to be skeptical.

chrischhorn 08-06-2013 11:41 PM

Goodness, that looks amazing......

mdxj 08-07-2013 08:01 AM

How about price? I want to get new arms this fall but I am still sceptical about these coming out

takjak2 08-09-2013 11:12 AM

Negative engineering outlook from the GTR forums. SPL Parts Prototype GT-R Adjustable Front Control Arms - Part 1 (install) - Page 3 - Suspension & Tires - GT-R Life

TLDR: The SPL design isn't great.

The price quote given to me by corner3garage has me going with Doran arms. At this point SPL doesn't deserve my money.

Very interesting read, thx for posting!

I know how much the doran arms are, do you mind telling me (or pm me) how much you were quoted the SPL arms?

me too

jujubii 08-09-2013 12:10 PM

while they probably aren't anywhere near the quality of spl or doran's arms? has anyone considered these arms? Megan Racing

they're seem more structurally sound (in accordance with the gtrlife thread & possesses a similar shape to oem). maybe it's a step up option from spc and a step below doran/spl

Chuck33079 08-09-2013 12:13 PM

Megan is cheap garbage. Take better care of your car than that. It's a downgrade from SPC. Megan uses crap steel and their quality control is nonexistant.

It was just a thought/suggestion
Seeing as how SPC's settings slip a lot (i know there's the jam nut mod) and the bushing tears *frequently* (at least for the g37 guys) and the SPL/Doran arms are crazy pricey, I was wondering if there is an in-between alternative :P

btw, this seems pretty genius (for people with mild drops and such) http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/...-arm-bushings/

martin82 08-09-2013 01:26 PM

I've seen the GTR article, but the SPL arms also have extensive track testing. I have no doubt they will perform and I am on the list pre ordered through Corner3 Garage!

SPOHN 08-09-2013 02:30 PM

OK, where's this pre list? What's the cost? Why is this so damn secret it seems?

Oh my bad, since the 350z where $760 and looks like GT-R will be $1200, my guess would be $1000

sig11 08-09-2013 04:58 PM

I'm guessing $1200-1300 for the 370Z part as well.

SPOHN 08-09-2013 05:04 PM

I wish you guys would make a call to SPL. Your guesses on prices are scary. I'm sure they will tell you the same as I was told. You will be happy. That's as far as I'm going with this.
