2012 Nissan Z Chassis Brake Cooling Kit part #E4420-1EA00 ???

So has anyone actually seen this yet? Do we know what it is exactly? Does it come on the cars, or is it something you have to buy and have dealer installed? Is it just a misnomer as stated that it's a Nismo part? I'm just wondering because everyone was freaking out about the oil cooler and I don't see much being said about this. I know Red_Zed was asking about it yesterday, if anyone with 2012's had a picture of the ducts yet. So I'm just curious. Are there really new ducts?

2012 Nissan Z Chassis Brake Cooling Kit part #E4420-1EA00

It was originally listed under this thread, http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ory+oil+cooler but was dismissed as a Nismo part.

That part # is wrong....

somatic 11-04-2011 10:52 AM

Yeah, that's what was basically said in the other thread I linked, but then everyone got so excited talking about the oil cooler that the brief talk about the possibility of new cooling vents just disappeared (at least I haven't seen anything). Red_Zed seems to be the only one who keeps bringing it up. I know the few people here who have gotten 2012's have not done a great job of posting to the thread I made about posting when you got your cars, and I've asked some directly with no luck. So getting pics may be even harder. That is if there is even something to take pictures of??? I think that's what everyone (or at least Red_Zed and me) is (are) wondering. Are they real, or is it just rumor mill gone wild?

Red__Zed 11-04-2011 11:03 AM

Nissan's site has them listed as a feature, but no deets.

I'm in for deets.

b1adesofcha0s 11-04-2011 11:07 AM

I guess we just have to wait till the 2012's are more widely available.

Me too. Which site are you referring to? I don't see anything on the official Nissan page.

Well if no one has answered this question soon I'll be sure to do so when my car arrives, hopefully within the next 2 weeks. :excited:

FL 4Motion 11-05-2011 05:47 PM

Now what's interesting is that this would make sense given the regular Z's fang "vents", but how would this work on the Nismo?

they aren't venting through the fangs, we know that for sure. Some are speculating that it is an underbody attached piece.

I just wish one of the guys with a 2012 would post some deets. There's a good number that have been delivered already.

same things since the beginning...look cool:ugh2:

They were put in for ducting, but Nissan saved a few bucks per unit by not venting. Several of the pre-production models ran around with ducts there.

Damn Nissan and their cost cutting. If it wasn't for that, we might have decent paint and had an oil cooler + brake cooling from the beginning.

Yeah, but then 3 years after the model intro, what would nissan do to improve the car??

Change the looks a bit? Weight reduction/ better balance? 5.0 swap?!?!?!

ZForce 11-05-2011 09:55 PM

I was under the impression and read somewhere maybe on this forum that the fangs are used to direct down force to the front end and direct air to the radiator. So they were also used on some pre production units and had the fangs slotted to direct air to the brakes?

Ha ha ha -- well, I must say, I do really like the fangs, so I suppose I souldn't complain :icon17:

there are blank off plates behind the fangs, so that is doubtful

WWJD 11-05-2011 11:21 PM

Just make one by ourselves wouldn't cost much. too hard to wait for Nissan to do something good to our Z

secondnissan 11-06-2011 02:26 AM

The "purpose built ducting " was mentioned in the 2011 brochure also. The 2012 brochure is the same exact brochure with a different front and back page. I have a 2010, so I'm not sure if there was a change for the '11s. But I'm guessing there aren't ducts. Just the marketing department and engineering department not communicating. Car and Drivers best handling cars under 40,000 was a 2011 z and they still had brake fade.

+ someone already tried custom porting from the fang to the brake. netted higher temps than without. i think it will be some sort of ducting through the bottom engine cover if there is such a thing perhaps?

Damn, that's a bummer if it's just advertising bs.

Dark Sarcasm 11-07-2011 06:43 PM

I think the "purpose-designed ducting" might be the vents inside the rotors.

Yeh, thought I read that a member about the same time ModShack ported the panel NEXT to the fangs for air flow to G3. This member had photos of the mod under the car with some crazy venting that looked like it came out of HAV parts bin. Dunno what ever came about it, perhaps?

Nism0370 11-09-2011 08:21 PM

Why can't Nissan sell the brake ducts in the 2012 Nismo RC as an aftermarket part?

kenchan 11-09-2011 08:58 PM

check the general section. passwordjdm is doing a front brake port in CF for us. :p
