2012 Nissan Z Chassis Brake Cooling Kit part #E4420-1EA00 ???
So has anyone actually seen this yet? Do we know what it is exactly? Does it come on the cars, or is it something you have to buy and have dealer installed? Is it just a misnomer as stated that it's a Nismo part? I'm just wondering because everyone was freaking out about the oil cooler and I don't see much being said about this. I know Red_Zed was asking about it yesterday, if anyone with 2012's had a picture of the ducts yet. So I'm just curious. Are there really new ducts?
2012 Nissan Z Chassis Brake Cooling Kit part #E4420-1EA00 It was originally listed under this thread, http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ory+oil+cooler but was dismissed as a Nismo part. |

Nissan's site has them listed as a feature, but no deets.
I'm in for deets. |
I guess we just have to wait till the 2012's are more widely available.

Now what's interesting is that this would make sense given the regular Z's fang "vents", but how would this work on the Nismo?

They were put in for ducting, but Nissan saved a few bucks per unit by not venting. Several of the pre-production models ran around with ducts there. |

Change the looks a bit? Weight reduction/ better balance? 5.0 swap?!?!?! |
I was under the impression and read somewhere maybe on this forum that the fangs are used to direct down force to the front end and direct air to the radiator. So they were also used on some pre production units and had the fangs slotted to direct air to the brakes?

Just make one by ourselves wouldn't cost much. too hard to wait for Nissan to do something good to our Z

The "purpose built ducting " was mentioned in the 2011 brochure also. The 2012 brochure is the same exact brochure with a different front and back page. I have a 2010, so I'm not sure if there was a change for the '11s. But I'm guessing there aren't ducts. Just the marketing department and engineering department not communicating. Car and Drivers best handling cars under 40,000 was a 2011 z and they still had brake fade.

I think the "purpose-designed ducting" might be the vents inside the rotors.

Why can't Nissan sell the brake ducts in the 2012 Nismo RC as an aftermarket part?

check the general section. passwordjdm is doing a front brake port in CF for us. :p
