BC Coils Specs and Questions
I am in the process of installing my new BC Coils, however in the manual it does not say what height it comes with out the box and what dampening setting it comes out the box.
Trying to figure out what's the best balance for street use and what others have done with there setups. |

My suggestion is put them in unadjusted, roll the car to settle and go from there. I have mine set at 20 from soft front, 15 from soft rear. You'll find dampening is the easiest to adjust and tune. Getting your height where you want it, now that's the pita. |
I actually set them up to resemble the front and rear shocks in length. I then installed them into the car.
I made measurements from the floor to the bottom of the wheel arch in the center of each wheel before I installed them. I then made the same measurements once I had put them in and driven the car a mile or three. Pulled off the wheels and got out the strap wrench and lowered each coilover to the appropriate height. Have not needed to touch them since. I am 15 clicks off of hard in the front and rear. Will look at changing the clickers once I have had it out on the autocross course a few times. K |
I just winged it when I first installed them height wise. It was slammed at 1st. I had to mess with it all that 1st day but I got the ride height just where I wanted it. I am full stiff front and 4 clicks from full stiff in the rear.

Okay so the install went smooth. The car is lowered but getting them all even is a BITCH! It's not like the horrible manual says. It would be nice if it had markings to know how low your going. It would also be nice if the barrel was 6 inches on both sides why is 1 side lower then the other?!
Whatever I got it as close as I could for now waiting for it to settle. Def love the drop. Question... When you hit a pot hole does it seem the suspension bottoms out or that my engine and tranny slamming into the floor? |

I have not had any instances of the suspension bottoming out on pot holes. It is firmer though, so you may need a bit of spine shock sensor recalibration to make sure it is actually a performance V.S. perception issue. |
Installed the Coilovers and made the height adjustments, but I'm a little annoyed truthly. There is no clear way of getting these all set same height. The instructions Blow donkey balls. If I measure the colar and it measures at lets say 6 inches on both sides for the front how come one site higher then the other. Then after driving for 20 miles its almost even...
Anyway I have 2 issues and maybe you guys can help me out. I have 20MM Spacers in the front and 25 in the rears. The front's are rubbing on the plastic so I'm guessing raising it should help. From the Floor to the top of the wheel arch what is everyone running? I'm looking for measurements here. I wanted about 1.5 inch drop in the front but I'm sure I'm sitting at 2.5 cause it looks slammed. Please let me know what you guys are running. My mistake was not measuring the height before changing everything. Second - The rear makes a clanking noise when the suspension travels out. I have the 230MM springs and the colar is almost all the way screwed in. Is it possible I made the spring to short for the shock or vice versa? To top it off... I couldnt finish adjusting anything because my lil step brother left my nissan lock key on the wheels when we went for a test drive. I tried a few of my friends but none of them match. WTF?! Any input would be helpful thanks! |
Bump.

Find a 12pt socket That's slightly larger than your wheel lock and hammer it in. You should be able to remove the lock and of course get a new set of locks afterwards
|
You should order a new key or see if someone locally has them, the dealer or tire shop can take it off. The noise may be from not enough preload. Put the z on jack stands, keep the wheels on. Grab the springs and see if you can shake them.

They keys are serialized had to order it directly from MCGaurd. 15 Bucks is better then potentially destroying my wheels.
|
Any updates yet? I just ordered a set of BC BR type coilovers.

Still waiting for the key. Ordered it Monday and they ship out of NY I'm in NY what gives? USPS is slow
