On the subject of pads? the stock pads are fine if you're not doing anything serious. IMO I do plenty of spirited driving and have not had any issues with the Akebonos with stock pads so far. |

Many people have died from street racing. I do not support it neither will this forum.

I love how the guy is like "I don't do any form of racing"... except for the illegal kind that gets people killed.
I think the correct term for this guy is "Fucktard". |

Hawk Pads are what I've seen others use? Can't comment on performance
|
Hawk street pads are overrated, overhyped by internet forums. Carbotech and Cobalt Friction are both excellent pads, a little expensive though.
|
I can't even understand how someone would need better street pads than stock unless you are either:
A) Do a lot of auto-x (even then?) or occasionally track your car and don't feel like swapping pads out each time. B) Driving recklessly. I can't think of a single time on the street where I felt I needed better brakes. Our stock brake pads handle extremely well and can stop pretty damn quickly, certainly good enough for the street. Hell, the few times I did have to slam on my brakes, I couldn't even brake as hard as I would of liked, for fear of a giant SUV or truck slamming into the back of me. |
Most some pics of the car.
|
There are some legal forms of street racing, such as the Spectre 341 challenge. ;)
If you are just in for some spirited driving, the stock pads are great and stand up to some pretty intensive driving very well. If you don't track the car, it might be best to stay stock as some have experienced more frequent instances of 'ice mode' with higher friction coefficient pads as well. |
klm
well maybe its just me , i think the brakes are not that good , and i do mean
for daily driving not for auto cross or anything , i didnt say that its very very bad!! i just said if anyone knows of any pads that are better than stock thats all and with having to use the high performance pads that mess the rotors and are very noisy |
OP, you could give the Nismo brake pads a shot. They're supposed to be a slight upgrade to stock but still be low dust/noise.
|
i hear that they are worthless and not better than stock , maybe just abit,
their has to be someone that tried good brakepads and vouches for it. if not i will be the rat will try most of them and tell u guys . :happydance: |

I can vouch for this car stopping very well on the freeway at speed with erratic traffic stopping, on the street, in the canyons and in the rain. There is not one single time where I did not have confidence in the braking performance of this car. |
nothing man , i just got the car from the vassel less than 24 hours ago , i didnt even drive it more than a bit , its not new ,its usedwith8000 miles but the pads are and the car is in perfect condition , and plz read wht isaid , i didnt say its bad , and i also didnt say i feel unsafe, i just want a stronger pads thats all, if their is , their is , if their isnt , then no harm done, ilove the car and the brakes anyway, ijust figured to ask if anyone tried better pads thats all .

If you go fast enough, you will melt through the HP+ within 2-3 days
|
That's fine. Cause I'll be ready to get to some Carbotechs next time around. I like to try all types first hand reguardless of what others say. :icon17:

Man this is an old thread but geez they really called out OP on street racing yet no one said anything to the guy cussing. Then they kept going on and on instead of just answering the question. I came here bc this is the first thing Google popped up and all it is is forum bashing. Danggggg. So now that it's 2015. Was is a good solid brake pad for DD and very little track time?
|
You should look into Project Mu Street: Type NS (Very good for street) and Project Mu Street Sports: B-Force (Very good for street and light track)
|
I'm gonna try a StopTech rotor/pads setup soon. We'll see how that goes.
|
Don't forget about Yellowstuffs. Good DD with some track thrown in.

StopTechs
I've used the StopTech pads from Z1 for track sessions and daily driver street use and have been really satisfied with them. As I improve my track proficiency I may like need to upgrade to something else, but at my current level they are more than adequate.

Dusty noisy???

Not at all

I just had the Stoptech pads installed along with Z1 performance 2-piece rotors. My expectation was that it would enhance the stopping power a bit and look good with some new spokey wheels I am getting made. In reality the stopping power is greaty enhanced, but it is also much "smoother" since you don't need as much brake pressure to slow down the car. Contradicting that statement the braking is also a lot more noisey and there is a lot of brake dust. Under hard braking I feel the slots and drilled holes doing their job through the brake pedal.
I put them to the test this morning by braking HARD to avoid getting rabbit gore all over my Z. The car stayed straight and true and the anti lock braking did not engage at all while reducing my speed greatly and safely. |

If it was a street car that I wanted to upgrade, I would be willing to give these a try on the Z Products | Power Stop I put a set of them on our ford Explorer and have been very impressed with them so far, for ~600 /700 bucks 4 rotors and 4 pads, it was a huge, huge ,gain on the truck's braking. |
Need to switch out the breaks, starting to make a squealing noise on the front, want to do a complete setup, cross drilled and slotted, its my DD and I don't track..just a very aggressive driver (kinda have to be here in this part of Florida). Think I will just get the stock pads and save for a BBK. Anything out there comparable to stock pads as far as price and performance?
|
Yellowstuff has worked for me.

I am going with project mu HC+. Going to give them a whirl on the new 2 piece rotors front and rear.
|
I think for street Redstuff would be fine...I have them on my boosted Z.
