Gauging Interest: GiroDisc 2 Piece Floating Rotors

Guys,

We are all for bringing our new products for the Z34. While I know a few other companies may manufacture a 2 piece floating rotor, they are quite expensive. We have been working with GiroDisc for several years now, and figured it might be time for them to make some 2 piece rotors for the Z34 w/ sport brakes.

GiroDisc is synonymous with quality. Generally, their 2 piece rotors have about 10 less pounds of mass, and consequently remain cooler on the track (which we all know the Z brakes need)

Anyways, to do a run for the sport brakes I would need 5 committed individuals. Once I have 5 people paid for, GiroDisc will manufacture the product and ship it out.

Whats in it for you?

Retail prices on these rotors would be in the area of $750 for the fronts and $800 for the rears. These first 5 individuals would get a SIGNIFICANT discount. As well, I think reviews of these brakes would be excellent for the community.

These rotors are spectacular and have been out lasting our last BBK setup.

Here are some pics I just snapped form our STi Track car:

They are strong, light, and float with plenty of room for expansion and contraction from continuous heat and cool down sessions. (plus they look BAD ***!!!) They will be made to OEM dimensions.

if anyone is interested please let me know. I really want to gauge some interest with the crowd here and hopefully bring more true performance oriented products to the forum.

Yes I am very interested in a rear set, if you can e-mail pricing and specs I have a 09 370 sport with nice fronts but have been unable to find rears that I like and are noticeably lighter than stock and reasonably priced. My e-mail is davidl@loghomesetc.com. I am ready ! David

What "street" brake pads should I use with these rotors? Without too much dust/noise but better than stock.

THMotorsports 12-27-2010 10:07 AM

Possibly the Carbotech bobcats. Ill see if Giro Disc has any interest in making their magic pads.

THMotorsports 12-28-2010 09:18 AM

Back up!

THMotorsports 12-29-2010 09:23 AM

Anyone else? More than willing to share information if you guys have questions :)

NewYorkJon34 12-29-2010 10:33 AM

The price you quoted me, that was for both front rotors right? Not each one?

THMotorsports 12-29-2010 03:53 PM

Yep, both fronts.

NewYorkJon34 12-29-2010 05:33 PM

So I know our stock akebono rotors weigh 30lbs a piece, how much do these rotors weigh?

THMotorsports 12-30-2010 09:34 AM

^ Well since they have never been produced, I cannot say exactly what they are going to weight. I would imagine somewhere in the area of 22-25lbs a piece.

THMotorsports 01-04-2011 10:00 AM

Anyone else?

NewYorkJon34 01-04-2011 12:50 PM

So since these are floating rotors, are they gonna make a noise everytime I brake?

THMotorsports 01-05-2011 09:47 AM

No? How so? The idea behind the floating rotor is that they can expand and contract under heavy braking, ultimately resulting in a rotor that performs better under stress.

THMotorsports 01-11-2011 10:06 AM

Still need at least 2 more people.
