Excessive Brake Dust

I have driven my new manual w/sport 370z for ~500 miles now. I have excessive brake dust. It is not just on the wheels but down the side of the car and rear bumper. I also notice the front tires are starting to wear somewhat unevenly. The car had an alignment the day I purchased it because although it tracked well on the roads, the steering wheel was off center. Anyone else having similar issues? Thanks.

Not yet.

1400 miles and no issues as you note. I thought I read somewhere that Nissan had added more bias to the rear through some change in the hydraulic circuits. Anyone know about this?

I haven;'t had issues quite that bad, but I do get dust build up on the rear tires pretty quick. It doesn't spread onto the car itself though.

No problems with brake dust which is a relief. My F150 and IS350 were both horrible and while the Z has some it's very light compared to the other two.

No break dust here, but I wash my cars a lot.

my steering wheel was off center today. i thought i f-ed up and hit something. but i check the tires and they were actually 40psi, so i let the air out. and i went to my fav mechanic and they checked it out. basically it was just that the tires are worn out unevenly. he said that is normal, and when you drive in LA, no street is perfectly paved and stuff, he said that there was no alignment problem with my baby.

basically check your tires and see the air pressure. and you should probably visit a mechanic because you really don't know why the steering wheel is off center unless a mechanic looks at it.

No problem here. 900 miles. didin't get the sport brakes because they said the regular brakes are more than enough and that it will just cost more to replace the pads.. luckily my brakes are really good and not a lotof brake dusts....

Replace the pads with comprable ceramics...ceramics bite well !!!but usually need one stop or 2 b4 they are up to max performance...dragging the brake as you pull out of the driveway is almost enough to warm them up.

Ceramic hawks....are fairly inexpensie...and cause littel if any dust...meaning they last long as they don't strip away material...like the stock brembo pads..

You will not notice any degredation in stopping distance.... they also help keep the brake rotor cooler. Not thats there is ANY problem with the brembo's

Just change them. spend the 220 bucks..or there abouts...you be so much happier than wiping your front wheels on every trip.

i put ceramics on all my vehicles sans motobike

09 370z
07 Z06
06 GTO
05 Busa
04 GTO (auto)

You think i like cleaning this bunch dialy ,only 2 can be garaged...

No excessive dust on mine either. On the track, they dusted like crazy, but that is to be expected. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Forrest 03-22-2009 03:27 PM

I think i actualy might have less dust on my wheels compared to my 350z. Only 530 miles but i remember after 1 week with my 350z they was sort of covered but i never cared. My wheels still clean and i have not even had to touch them yet.

semtex 03-22-2009 04:46 PM

No problems here either. Also have sport pkg. 1500 miles.

bluzman 03-22-2009 05:26 PM

No problems...4,200 miles.

joeyz10 03-22-2009 10:12 PM
