Altering the front and rear track separately can be a technique used to fine tune handling. Widen the front track to reduce understeer, widen the rear track to reduce oversteer. Widening them both will give you a slightly lower roll-point angle, but because it alters the suspension geometry you also slightly lessen the effective spring rate.
