I will know more after this coming weekend's time attack, but my guess is that you are going to want to go with a staggered spring rate. The ER Series on my car is a 12k/10k setup so I will see how that works. A 10k/10k setup might make the back end rotate too much.
And thats 12k front 10k rear ? Would running the same rate on the BR series be OK ? maybe 11k/9k ? LOL
Correct. 11k/9k would be fine on the BR except BC Racing doesn't carry odd numbered spring rates for the most part. We would probably have to get you some Swift Springs to get 11k/9k.
I ordered the BR series today through a local shop. Gonna order some rear camber arms tonight online. Can't wait to get all this installed.
^^^Sweet! Hope you enjoy them!
so what is this 10k/8k about?

How did the racing go ?
Is BR 10/8 OK for street and 5-10 track sessions or should I go BR with custom 12/10k ? |
The racing went very well! I have a short write up in the track/autocross section with a quick review on these coilovers. I will do a more detailed write up probably when I find some on track photos of the car :). You can tell a lot about how a car is handling in photos.
As for the spring rates, 12/10 was perfect! After a little dialing in on the track my compression/rebound was in the middle range which is ideal, leaving me room on either end of the spectrum for more adjustments. I would not go any stiffer than these spring rates and probably won't need to go stiffer until the car is heavily modified. |
Wasnt to harsh for street ? I'm just debating on going 10/8 or 12/10 on the BR series.
I don't mind it on the street at all. Its no Cadillac, but its definately not near as harsh as it sounds like it would be.
Is the BR series in stock and ready to be shipped?
^^^Yes sir!
I have a question with the New ER series... Can the remote reservoirs be lengthened to allow for under the hood adjusment and in the Hatch adjustment? Also if you had to name a nearest competitor for theses coilovers who would give them a run for their money(KWv3)? I have a track day may 17th and would like to have a good setup for a good price :D let me know what we can work out.

If I had to compare, I think I would put them more in the range of KWs for sure performance wise. I don't have a ton of experience with KWs, and to be honest, it has been a while since I have driven a car with them, but needless to say these BCs were very impressive for the price. |
I work closely with goodridge so I was thinking of having them extended for ease of adjustment and even making a extension kit depending on how my set goes. I drove with KW's on my s2000 and dear Lord was it night and day! My KWv3's transformed the car into a whole new machine and the car was on rails from then on. I hope these BC's will do the same thing. :D

I am sure you will not be disappointed! :)
What is the minimum drop in inches for the br series? Thanks
DD, the ride height adjustment on ER series is completely independent of other adjustments correct?
Not sure of the minimum drop, I would guess that they can be raised to around stock height. There is quite a bit of upwards adjustment left on my set.

The rear ride height is adjusted at the spring, the adjuster sits above the spring. Once ride height has been set, you also need to adjust the travel of the shock by turning the body to match your height adjustment of the spring. Like the front, with this design you can set height at any level without taking away shock travel. Once static ride height is set, you will need to add ballast and perform full corner balance and alignment. |
thanks for clarifying, I shouldn't have said they weren't adjustable... that was wrong... just not adjustable like a typical coilover
Mike, just wondering a few things here. I didn't want to start a new thread for something that I knew you could answer. I am in between the classic battle of coilovers Vs. lowering springs. I have only used lowering springs in the past but I want to go a different route with the Z. I actually want to race her. But I need to be able to keep her as my daily driver as well. What do you suggest? Also if I go with coilovers, I want to get the BR series. Will I "need" a camber kit (F+R) or will I be fine with just that set-up?
Thanks Rick |

Whether you will need a camber kit is going to depend on how much you lower the car, even slammed the car doesn't seem to gain an absurd amount of camber due to the suspension design, but the more the better at the track. Look at Mike's car, he is lowered and still short on camber at the track (no front camber adjustment), just make sure you get an alignment after lowering to correct the toe-in as that will kill tires in no time. |
^^^Agreed.
Camber kits will be a great benefit though on track to get enough negative camber to use your tires to their full potential. |
Thaks again for the info guys. I already contacted DannyGT on getting a DIY. I do have some general knowledge when it comes to suspension work and I've done lowering springs myself, in the past. Hopefully I can get that from him and it'll be smooth sailing. Any other tips/hints/tricks would be helpful too.

Even better!! That makes things easy enough.
Mike, do the rear BC coilovers adjust without having to remove the wheels, via an extender?

Great, thanks.
