Can't wait for the Bilstein coilovers anymore..... so, I am planning on buying Eibachs, SPC front/rear kits, and spacers on my Z.


I am planning on doing the install myself, but for the alignment.....Any highly recommended shop(s) in the City of Angels?

Never used them because I live in OC but I've heard nothing but good things about Darin from:

Small world.....I have used Darrin once for my 911. Perhaps I should get his service again as his name keeps popping up. He used to be with Johnson's alignment, but Johnson, I believe, specializes in Porsches. I am not sure if Johnson would be very familiar with SPCs, though an alignment kit is just another alignment kit, correct?

Now, both places do NOT use the computer for alignment. Does anyone have opinions about computer-alignment vs. old-fashion/non-computerized/manual alignment?

I know nothing about suspension work. Can someone explain why a normal tire shop like Firestone wouldnt work.. Is it because of after market parts?

I think that a "specialized" alignment shop would care more about what you'd want out of an alignment. They would probably have more passion about what they do.

I go to my alignment shop rather than just Firestone, Goodyear, etc, cause he works on installing and does alignments for SCCA members, asks what kind of driving I do, and has a lot of experience, he does weight balance alignments (takes your weight into consideration).. I walk into his shop and has cars from Subarus, old 280z's, Ferraris, BMW, etc etc..

Beats being installed and aligned by some "tech" guy who gets em in and out for the money...

The post above this is accurate and you also bring up a good point about aftermarket parts! Keep in mind that the spc suspension is basically a threaded rod on the rear camber arms. We have seen numerous cars come into our shop after going to their local firestone guy where the arms are hanging on by just a few threads. This is obviously extremely dangerous. It is definitely recommended to have a specialist perform the alignment when using specialty equipment.
