Default Non-Sport Swapping to Sport BBK? Read These Tips

So you got a sport brake package used for really cheap from another forum member. Thanks bullit! Here's some tips you may want to follow to make things smooth as ice.

1. 10mm Flare Wrench! 10mm Flare Wrench! You will chew up your hard brake line connections without one. Sure, you may get one or two with vice grips but it's not worth the chance of destroying another one.

2. Brake Lines. Make sure you get the brake lines from the sport package brakes. The non-sport uses banjo bolt connections to the caliper, the sport is hard lined. You need everything from the hard brake line connection at the body all the way down to the caliper.

3. Dust Shields. The front is just fine but you can bend it to be safe. The rear requires trimming or bending or both. Test fit the rotor to make sure it fits.

4. Emergency Brake. You know that emergency brake thing? Well those rear rotors aren't coming off with it engaged.

5. Sequence. Remove old caliper. Remove old rotor. Install new rotor. Install new caliper. Swap lines at the hard body connection quickly for minimal fluid loss.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. It took me and a friend about 3.5 hours to do this. If you follow these tips you really can do this in two hours or less. Enjoy.

Get some 1/4" vacuum cap for the hard brake line near caliper when you attach line to connector at the body...
