Q: To remove or not to remove top rubber cone from rear coilover? Please help.

I've seen people cut the rubber cone to reduce its height. I haven't seen anyone remove it completely with stock springs. How would the spring stay in place? I'd imagine

I've seen people cut the rubber cone to reduce its height. I haven't seen anyone remove it completely with stock springs. How would the spring stay in place? I'd imagine it would be noisy as hell. I've only seen it removed when replaced with aftermarket springs/coilovers that include a top hat.
