Best coilovers for 2015 Nismo
SO i just purchased a 2015 Nismo tech and I was looking into getting a set of coilovers. I like the ride now but its a little bouncy/ stiff on the sh***y Chicago roads. I was wondering if any coilovers would help this. Im not looking to slam it or anything, maybe just lower it an inch max. My main goal is a smoother ride, if possible.
My budget is between $1-2.5k |
Call Stance. Talk to Scott
|
HKS hipermax IV or KW V3s for a smooth street ride.
|
I have a set of KWv3 on mine, about to take them off and sell them though for a different non-coilover setup. Less thank 3k miles on them, if you are interested shoot me a message, selling for way lower than new, and these practically are.

not saying the stanceīs arenīt good coilovers, but the OP said he is concerned about the ride harshness on stock Nismo suspension, seems to me he is looking for something with less aggressive spring rates than the Stance come with. If the OE Nismo rates are too much for his comfort, heīd think a 13/8 spring rate was going to rattle a filling loose. I know you can go custom with the Swift springs, but why? the advantage of the swift upgrade is for the track/corner balancing, not street comfort.
really the KWs would provide the most comfortable ride since they are progressive spring rate. actually after thinking about it I retract my suggestion for the HKS since they have a slightly higher spring rate than the Nismos, although not as high as the Stance. |
For this budget, a set of Pro-Comp2s from Stance would be amazing.
You can also do a set of the off the shelf Super Sports, and drop the rates a little bit with the Swift springs. I have set up plenty of "street cars" with the Swift's and people have been ecstatic about the ride quality change. Shot you a PM op. |
I love my stance pro comp 2 but they are pretty stiff. If you want a softer ride maybe a air ride set up.
|
You can have each set built to a specific use, so we could have them built on the soft side for his needs.

Since I dont plan on lowering too much am i required to get a camber kit? Front, rear or both? I've had to get a rear on my previous G37 coupe but I was almost 2 inches lower than stock. |
Im going with Bilstein PSS10. World class valving, but no insane spring rates. Plus, I believe that the rears keep the progressive springs.
...and Im near Chicago so I know the roads well Tracy Ramsey |
Dibs on the Nismo shocks: yum:

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen. Im currently in the debate of going with DPE G's V3's or possibly some type of air ride. Whether it be air cups or complete bags. I will let everyone know what i end up choose and will probably start a build thread if all goes well.
Thank you |
Tein mono flex with EDFC pro 2. I am thinking its one of the best around. for 2.5k AUD
|
Check out Powertrix.
They are designed for the 370z by a Z owner. I have the street series and very happy with the ride and the quality. Charles can set them up with Swift spring for a little more. AXMEA? has a detailed review HERE https://www.powertrix.com/components...34SS1Swift.jpg |
Hey Brock. Congrats on your Nismo purchase. I recently bought a '15 Nismo myself. My ride was very harsh too. More so then I thought it should be. I soon found out why. After checking this forum (thanks everyone) I found 3 spring spacers in each of my front springs. A lot of guys are finding them on their Nismo Z's. If you havent checked you may want to. My ride was much improved after I removed them.
|
Im a really big fan of the HKS hypermax GT4 coilovers. Handles great with a much improved ride over stock. You can find good condition used sets on here for $1200. That's what I did and I think its a perfect setup for my street driven z.
|
I cant comment for other coilovers, but i really do love my hks hipermax4s too. For the street they are fantastic. I paid over 1600$ for mine, and did see a set for 1150$ on the marketplace. I am actually getting my suspension tuned next week, so ill report back afterwards.
|
The new 15/16 nismo's have 2 way shocks, found this out when I got my swifts on. If you throw swifts on it does soften up the ride but handling is better.
|
Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to go with Tein Flex coils along with the EDFC Active Pro electronic dampening.
I previously had a 2014 Jeep SRT which had a similar set up, different modes for tighter suspension, and that's exactly what Im looking for again. Ill report back once I pull the trigger. Trying to make it my winter project |

Which is why Im going with Tein coilovers and EDFC Active pro electronic dampening. A soft setting for daily driving, along with a track style setting for when i want to have fun. |

I see you went my way mate. gotta tell me where you put the EDFC unit. I still have no I dear where to put mine haha. Also did you get the GPS unit as well.? helps when you doing high speed
tein flex coils are twin tubed . When the mono flex is well mono tube. how come you went just flex and not mono flex? Quote:

I don't believe Tein makes a mono flex coilover for the 370z, i could be wrong but it doesnt show it available on their website. You could be thinking of the mono sport, which is a more street/track style coilover. I do not track mine and don't plan to so the street flex will be plenty for me. A nice balance between street and performance. |
kwv3/endthread

OH yes I was thinking there as well. but mine has the heated seats. so I will be having to move the heated seat switches somewhere else..
heres a link to the monoflex teins TEIN Mono Flex Coilover - Fairlady Z34 - RHDJapan That's true. you save around $300 from mono flex to just flex. I will be going mono since I will be doing a few track days. Also that's 300 AUD haha. Quote:

any news on the coilovers brock

Coilovers are installed and I absolutely love them! The ride around town is exactly what I wanted, no more rough ride like the Nismo had. It's very smooth but still handles like the Nismo suspension did. I've been driving in the "auto" mode, which adjusts each coilover depending on how hard you accelerate/decelerate and corner. No body roll at all. Im on my way back from Florida as we speak so when I arrive the fine tuning of each preset will begin. I'll post back with all of my preset settings when I get the chance! I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for the best of both worlds, daily use and track. |
hows the car going brock.?. still loving the teins?

Get the most expensive one cause its the best
