Word of advice when doing these in cold weather. Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol as best you can. Try to avoid using goo gone if you can because unless you get it ALL off, it will ruin the 3M backing.

Once the area is clean, carefully affix the new emblem and strap down both "sides" of the emblem securely with blue heat-resistant painter's tape. You do this because the back of the emblem is flat, whereas the area on your hood where you're attaching the badge is slightly convex. If you don't strap down both sides of the emblem, you may end up with one side sitting "higher" in the recession than the other.

Then cover the whole badge with tape and hit it in short bursts with the heat gun on LOW.

Leave the tape on the car for 2-3 days, then remove.

Voila, permanent emblems.

I wonder how these would work on an aftermarket body kit since they do not have the emblem indentation of the stock front and rear. Would the emblems "sit up" a bit, showing the tape or will they sit flat?

Can't speak for these emblems specifically but yes, it would "sit up a bit" if they're like the ones I got from the Z store.

Guys. Sorry for no update. I'm currently in Los Angeles getting ready for Sevenstock 15. I did not bring my laptop so it's hard to work with an iPhone. Update on the emblems. We are waiting to have the rear 3m adhesive custom cut. Otherwise the chrome and black emblems are ready to go. I should be starting to ship them out when I get back to office next week. Thanks.

Update on 10-04. Just one will be 50 shipped

dmhenderson 10-02-2012 06:34 AM

Cool so I should be in that number - please confirm you received my email re: color. I want black/black. I had "black chrome" down which apparently isn't an option.
