Are any of these hoods paintable?

why wouldn't they be? motoextreme did a partial paint of his, remember?

Guys, quick question

I'm interested in the seibon fenders and doors and was wondering if it is easy to paint these seibon carbon products. Carbon fiber has a weave and it seems difficult to paint it. I know it's not the best thing to do (painting carbon) cause carbon is mainly for showing off and painting will also add weight, but I want to know if it's as easy as painting steel. Confirmed experience in the reply will be greatly appreciated....

Painting them is not like steel.. neither is your stock bumper.

CF items have 2-3 coats of resin/clear coat on them. A LIGHT sanding with a high grit paper, proper primer and base coat/painting works great. I've done this myself on a few Seibon and ViS hoods... never had a problem.

As always, professional installation/painting is recommended. They know their ish ;)

So AJ, you've never had a problem with say strength of the carbon fiber due to sanding it down....My main reason is for lightness and strength, so I'm just wondering if sanding will have any effect on strength. Thanks btw for the info, I'll definitely get in touch with some professionals to due it instead of me destroying a $700 product.....

Theoretically it may decrease the strength, but that is just clearcoat you're sanding.. if painting over it, you're adding another bond, paint. On top of that, you'll be applying more clearcoat (I hope) to protect the new finish.

In teh end, I still recommend a professional/shop to do all that work for you ;)

anyone know the weight of the seibon hoods and the stock hood? im debating on getting a seibon but i dont want something heavier since the stock is aluminum

i hear its like 2 pounds lighter than the stock hood.

Great product and AJ was a great help during the transaction.

Heres a few pics I took w/ my camera phone after install was complete. 1 hour installation minor adjustments needed, like other posts you need to make the holes larger for the white pop clips that hold on the back section of weather strip and the corner holes imo should not be drilled theres not much material there and 3m grey trim adhesive tape is awesome.

Two questions

1. Seibon TS Hood: what is the impact on the engine with water from rain or car wash running down the vents?

2. Seibon hatch: do you use the OEM glass with defrost connections and interior plastic parts with the hatch?

Does anyone have solid data on the weight differentials on the major pieces (hood, front fenders, trunk lid), either painted or not?

Quote on a TS hood / Hatch / skirts / Nismo type wing

Also will the rear add ons fit the Nismo bumper? If so includo those as well. Thanks!
