Default Traction Control

Hey Guys,

I was wondering exactly how do we turn off traction control completely. The other night I was showing off to some friends ( I had already pushed the VDC button to turn TC off) and threw the car sideways through a corner it slid for a second but then the TC came on I saw the TC light flash in the instrument cluster and it killed my slide and it was a bit dangerous to cause I already had opposite lock on. Anyway what I want to know is am I turning the VDC off right? All I've been doing is touching the button once is there another way to completely switch it off? Do I have to be stopped to turn it off? Any Info would be great TIA guys.

If you pushed the button then the system is off, both VDC and TC, according to the manual.

The light comes on when the vehicle dynamic
control off switch is pushed to OFF. This
indicates that the vehicle dynamic control
system and traction control system are not
operating. When the vehicle dynamic control

Sounds like the same at the 350 had.
Turns VDC off and most of TC. Still 13% TC or something.

On the 350 you had to open it up and get a proper off switch setup.

I think in the 350 only mild wheel braking was present after the switch was pushed... but to be totally honest, when I used to turn off VDC in the 350, it pretty much felt like it was off... especially in the wet when I wasn't even doing anything stupid....

Yea - thats how my G felt as well... dont recall it kicking in at all ... maybe the breaking is from you sliding and loosing momentum?

yeah well to be honest I never felt the braking but apparently the car was still using the abs to slow down the spinning wheel even with VDC off. If it was still on then it wasn't working because one time, unintentially I almost spun round completely in the wet just taking a slow (and very normal) turn into a street. (I had forgotten VDC off)

So essentially we can't fully turn off traction control?

I don't think it can be turned off fully... however, when I have had VDC off, I have never felt anything to suggest that anything was on. So its effects are negligable and no where near what you experienced in yours. I think maybe u just copped traction on a sticky surface or something.

I break traction all the time with VDC off and had no idea there was any TC remaining... I'd be really surprised if that was the reason OP lost his slide... as shaba said, prob ran out of mo

2nd that with VDC off. The 370 has a lot of traction, so you really need to want to get it out in order to get it out, if you know what I mean? I can sometimes feel a bit of axle tramp too if it's not spinning quick enough.

I drive around most of the day with it off so it doesn't limit my creativity.

I tested this and when you turn VDC off, there is NO VDC or traction control at all activating. I floored it on a dirt road and spun the tires to over 7000 rpm and held it there a few seconds to make sure nothing would "kick in". Nothing did.

Actually i dont actually agree with u because i took my car on the skid pan and yes the wheels spin as much as you like but putting it sideways is another story.. The cars front brakes still kick in a bit stopping the cars momentum so its a shlep to get it sideways for too long and i could smell the brakes afterwards were working ! so yeah unfortunately it is still on barely but there....
