Hey guys,

Just ordered my F.I system.

18" res and carbon fiber mufflers.

I've already got Berk HFC's on my car which my dad installed in under 2 hours. What a gun!.

Anyways reason for my post, if anyone wants to come listen they can. Ill keep this space updated with photos and clips as they come in.

hey mate, where abouts are you, im very interested in buying a aftermarket exhaust shortly for my Z - but not sure which brand to buy.

I want something that has a fair growl - not a drone. Its not supposed to sound like a 4cyl after all.

do you mind PM'ing me the cost of the muffler, the resonator and the HFC's?

anyone else interested in group buying something in the near future?

I'm happy to recommend the HiTech system ... fitted to my car with Stillen hreaders and BERK metallic cats ... works a treat (and the sound in the Eastlink tunnel is just music - a bit like the Hendrix "All Along the Watchtower" riff - glorious music !!).

Really keen on the F.I's but have never seen or heard them in person, gotta get bezzita to come as well so i can compare the 18" and 12" lol

Well I'm won over by the 18's. If i was running stock cats I would of gone 12s

I've ordered the F.I (#137) 18" carbon fiber with the f.I. resonated hfc-pipes. Tony reckons it'll be done by the 1st week of June (the latest) so I should have it fitted about mid June.

I've also got soundproofing booked to be installed right after. Why? Cause I've sat in both bezzita's and waqar's cars and the drone made me
wanna hurl :(

majestik that combo you ordered should sound fairly deep. I couldnt do the 12inch res in my area. I border Mill Park, No deal.

I'm not a fan of the hiss, however I cant outrun it with HFC's

Yeah, the hiss has me a little concerned too.

I'm seriously contemplating doing the cbe first and hfc-pipes after a 'sound test'.

I heard that the bloody EPA mailed Waqar a surprise and I don't want to be on their mailing list...

i wanna hear the exhaust!! hopefully have my type r sold in the next week or two.... then its Z time! def. wanna change the exhaust... abit too quiet stock.. but got no idea which to get or which size can's etc.... look fwd to catching up with you boys once i get the roadster! :)

Great news mate! Keep in mind though that its a July/August delivery for new 2010 Z's in quartz and bordeoux and a 8-12 week wait on F.I. (excluding delivery).

Don't do what I did and not mentally prepare for the wait...

now putting stock back on just for the test

too much hassle just for a noise test. Don't coppers have anything else to do other then noting down rego of loud cars on busy intersections :s

Im putting F.I Resonated Test Pipes on my car next week hahaha but with stock exhaust still so should be alright, unless they test the emissions :S

I mean your got Resonated so sound isnt on the cards.

I've been reading every thread about new exhausts but I'm not happy to dive in till I've heard them. Unfortunately, all the action seems to be Melbourne.
I'll be in Melbourne tomorrow night for business and I'd love the chance to hear the FI and/or HiTech exhaust. Will anyone be in town after about 6 and wouldn't mind swinging past the Crowne Plaza??? Drinks are on me.

haha I would have come, but I'm still recovering from getting my wisdom teeth removed.... still look like a chipmunk.... sigh..... 5 days now and counting.... I have the stillen CBE and Berk HFCs though.

The letter says I was reported by a member of Vic Police on 30th March for excessive noise from exhaust. I only got done for noise not emissions.

About how loud testpipes or HFC's are on stock exhaust we'll find out on friday when I get my car tested with stock exhaust and hfc's

Test pipes will definately make the exhaust a lot louder than HFC's... either way.... how weird is it going to be for you now driving around in what will sound like a prius?

The whole situation is still very annoying though, it annoys me that harleys can ride around shaking buildings but cars are limited so low..... and what about ferraris??? I had a scuderia floor it right past my open window and i nearly soiled myself.

yep it would be really weird, I have already made my mind to put FI back on Monday.

and yeah 90% of the supercars wont pass the test and harleys :mad:

Advice pls ppl. As you know, I've got fi bits on order. Im considering cancelling my hfc-pipes because of the amount of drone/hiss and EPA issues. I quite enjoy the way the 370Z is quietish until you step on it and am worried that the hfc-pipes will make me
kiss that quietishness away.

My question is how many rwkw will I actually lose with ONLY the cbe and your opinion if the amount of rwkw would noticeable.

Ray at Art tune - where Erfan and waqar got their cbe/hfc done - showed me erfan's dyno comparison between with hfc (berk) and without with his fi cbe. He told me that it's only a 4rwkw loss... Is this correct as Chipmunk aka Evan, says the difference should be "Way" more.

Basically - Is the power gain from the hfc-pipes worth the drone/hiss/EPA issues for a daily driven car.

yeah this is exactly what Im debating...f@cking nanny state we live in, because of it Im probably going to dress up mine with wheels and thats it, Im too old and dont have the time to be d!cking around with EPA's and defects. :ughdance:

yeah i got diked by that EPA letter on my Honda Fireblade RR with Yoshi pipe. Was reported by a coppa at such and such a day blah blah blah... i then put the stock exhaust back on.. past the test then got home and changed it back... pain in the butt! Dont know how harley's and so fourth get away with it! $40 down the drain! :(

Crowne Plaza is the one on the CBD side of the river, near the World Trade Centre with the old convention centre next door. I think it's Spenser and Flinders.

Come to think about it... Maybe I should ask the main forum and not a country where there are only about 3 people with fi systems..

It depends where you have to take your car for the EPA test.

If you have to take it to a EPA tester which they give you a list of exhaust shops. Your ok. As long as your 90db and under. Keep in mind most exhausts out of the states are 95db.

If you have to take it to the EPA itself, I'm fairly sure there in point cook now. YOUR STUFFED. Thats where they send the highly modded cars and if you have test pipes they will find out.

Guys, test pipes arn't worth it.

Not when you have berk HFC's pulling out the numbers they do & the crazy hissing and check engine light.

Plus one guys tests pipes made his FI system go yellow at the tips!

Think about the costs to with going to the EPA. You'll have to take the day off work to get there.

The labour in removing the test pipes.

Any turkey can take off a cat back system with basic tools and a jack.

Like it or not guys, we cant get away with none catted LTH's and test pipes in Australia

Forget the cost of a day off work, check the fines for omitting catalytic converters as well. Max fines of $22K for an individual and $220K if the vehicle is owned by a company.

HFC's are fine dude.

F.I cats have a 300 cell count. Thats borderline stock. U'll be fine if you stick to cats

I think the 3odd rwkw increase isn't worth my interior noise concern so I'm going to cancel the hfc-pipes.

Also $600+ isn't justifiable for such a small increase..

Berk cats give the biggest gains.

Check with Tony, I dont think you can down grade your order.

P.s , If your worried about cats, why are you getting UD pulleys? wouldnt you rather get light weight stock size pulleys?

Does the if pulley increase the sound???!!!

underdriving your pulleys is known to effect your electronics. Eg dim lights on your dash.

Once again we are talking about a couple of HP in it.

Also you do know spacers are illegal too? ull get raped up the bum if cops notice them in Vic.

If I was you I would do.
- F.I 18res with HFC's
- The new offical K&N short intake.
- Stock size light weight pully. AMS, Stillen do them.

Everything is already done on my car except the pulley and hfc.

The pulley is already delivered to my bongo address, pending consolidation with my cbe.

I appreciate your advice on the spacers but it's something i'll take the risk with...

Any further mods are going to have to wait post tax rebate lol.

Anyways, I plan to only have this car til the next Z comes out. It all depends on how much it rains in 2012.... ;)
