Maybe that's just me cos I'd be (and am) pissed off about this situation lol but then again the $40 odd might go better towards returning cats to stock.... sigh... I still think it's a load of crap

And $38 for the test. Epic waste of money.
Hey Melbourne Crew

I will be down for the cruise on the 23rd, I work in the sound production and entertainment industry and of course I have a SPL meter to please our NSW EPA kill joys. Well if someone will get the info below I am happy to measure all the cars there using the specification the EPA would use. I would start off with a baseline stock with stock CATs then measure all variations. If someone asked me nicely once back home I could start a thread to post the results of each of the variations at the cruise for the guys in other states. But be aware as normal each state will have their own test specifications, you will need to do some research to get meaningful results.

I need to know the following and I am sure it would be outlined somewhere in the Vic EPA website or by asking them or a tester. I have looked and I am close but no cigar.

- Environment of the test eg inside or outside or what space.
- At what engine revs it seems like 75% of red line eg 5250 rpm
- At what distance, position and angle from the car is the measurement taken eg 1m right angle from the rear of the passenger side of the car.
- Confirm the test routine increase engine revs to max and reduce over what time eg increase over tens second, hold at max for 5 seconds and reduce by foot off throttle pedel over three seconds.
- Confirm the test measurement type eg SPL A weighted averaged or peak rms over how many seconds.
- Confirm the max SPL is 90dBA

I would be about accurate to a 2% tolerance with my small meter because that is all a can pack in my bag. All I need is some time on the cruise at one of the stops to take the readings (about 3 mins each) and collate the info.

Your call Melbourne guys, tell me if you want some comparative measurements for peace of mind on your mods. I am happy to help others that love this car, oh also I love Michel's lattes two sugars with toasted banana bread with butter but no cream.
