Majestik

Here is what I have done but remember it is still a work in progress for me too.

Set up an account with a freight forwarding company such as Bongous, Viaddress or Borderlinx (Thanks gtrfan).

I am using Viaddress at Elkhart Indiana but there are many others.
See this link for some background info good and bad. Have anyone used MyUS.com or BongoUS? - Mac Forums

The main trick is costs of the freight forwarder and the air freight cost. Be ready for large numbers.

Pay for the goods using Paypal and there are tricks for lowering the commision costs for this to, but I digress.

Get your supplier to ship (normally free in the lower 48 states) to your US freight forwarder.

Then get your Freight Forwarder to ship to your door in Australia.

Don't be afraid of the import issues if using Fedex, customs clearance will be done by them free of charge as part of the service.

The costs will be in the order of 5% import duty plus the GST 10% plus the customs clearance fee $55. You need to pay the piper if you want to play in the band.

Remember any item fully manufactured in the US should fall into the Free Trade Agreement and be treated favorably for Customs Duties. But this opens a can of worms for the paper work so it needs to save hundreds of dollars not tens to be worth it.

Thats my thoughts hope it helps. The way I am going I might drop my day job and start to import gear lol.

YOU CARBON WHORE!!!!!!

Its mainly the carbon bits, K&N filters etc (DAMN I HATE BEING A CARBON WHORE!!!).

9 items and the largest would be the CF front fangs.

Total purchsae from Zstore is only $690.50USD and they wanna charge me $489.17USD shipping??

Is there something not right here???

EVL370 03-31-2010 08:18 PM

Sounds like they have quoted per item for shipping not packing everything together .

No deal dude.

Must be in the to hard basket to post to Australia.

There are some crappy reviews regarding the badges too. How they dont sit correctly.

Why K&N filters and not a intake?

GTRFAN 03-31-2010 08:53 PM

Majestic - Re shipping - Here's a summary of the US forwarders from aother forum - Have anyone used MyUS.com or BongoUS? - Mac Forums

Mail Forwarding of American Products for International Delivery - Best tracking with DHL, Great technology, great customer service, great prices. This is who I use now.

MyUS - US Mail Forwarding, Worldwide Shipping - largest of the group, great prices, but some hidden fees, poor response time.

http://www.usa2me - ok technology, good customer service, high prices with additional fuel added when you ship

Mail Forwarding and US Address Solution from US Global Mail, International Mail Forwarding - older technology/website, good customer service, high prices

3 Reasons.

I dont want any warranty issues.

From what I read, gains are only above 7K rpm.

Have to retune the whole lot if CAI, HFC, CBE fromw hat Ive read.

1. Warranty won't be a issue with a direct bolt on intake. If your that crazy you can just remove it before it goes in for a service. If your willing to change the cats, I don't why you would worry about intakes.

2. There would only be a couple of HP in it for the k&n filter or maybe none. Maybe it's not worth doing unless you wanna save coin in the long run and re-use the filter.

3. It's for headers.

Reason 4 - There are currently no CF cai...

You slut

I think there is in Japan

However I think its 94534656475785757463456345346346 Yen

evse82 03-31-2010 10:49 PM

Hey, nah it's easier for Nissan to deny a warranty claim if the intakes (affecting air cleanliness etc going into the engine) are installed. I know they probably function better than stock but it's just easier than cats and exhaust which are only pipes leading out of the engine ie little to no effect on the engines internals... just my 2 cents lol

Majestik 03-31-2010 11:02 PM

All bongo'd and ready for purchases!!!

Much relieved!!! :)

Mr Ed 04-01-2010 10:42 PM

Dont want to be a stick in the mud, but it appears you will go to town on the car.

Have you considered warranty issues cos the minute you drive into a Nissan service department and you have a mechanical issue they will wash your hands and try and deny your claim....

Have you considered waiting a bit and then going down the heavy mods path....

Termac 04-02-2010 12:55 AM

Hey majestik

What were you quoted for your freight cost to Australia by Bongous if you dont mind asking.

I just paid US$374.00 to ship the four Nismo Rims total 120lbs by economy air freight via Fedex. A large number but lower than that was quoted at Bongous ($569) and CEVA Air ($600 odd).

Awesome shopping list!

Make sure you wait till everything has arrived at Bongo and they will consolidate it into one large package/pallet which will work out well. You'll have to pay inport duty at customs but that's unavoidable. Other companies are cheaper for individual items, but for bulk orders like this it'll work in your favour.

You may as well chuck in a set of rims!

Don't bongo do the customs duty crap paper work???

If you're gonna buy a set of wheels you might as well send it to my Bongo addy for bulk shipping.

GTRFAN 04-04-2010 03:00 AM

Yeah they take care of all paperwork

boardingnath 04-04-2010 05:44 AM

Brilliant list. Congratulations!!

Can't wait to see and hear about them when you get them!

Termac 04-04-2010 06:10 AM

Great list in for the photos of the build, how about we call it the CF journal.

Lol I think I will :)

It'll be awhile though as my car is in 3rd-4th week April and then I'm going to start mods after wearing it in.

I could start the cosmetic stuff though... :)

I can't wait!!!

Majestik 04-09-2010 05:18 PM

Slight update on parts cause when Waqar took me for a drive, i was literally blown away (by the volume, not evan).
I've swapped out my fi HFCs for fi Resonated Hi Flow Cat Pipes (HFCs and resonated test pipes in one).
Tony states that this is their quietest option.
In a few weeks my parts and car will be ready (excluding the cbe and hfc-pipes as it's a 2 month+ wait) and I will start a thread journal.

Majestik 04-10-2010 12:29 AM

FYI. The next shipment of true 2010 370Zs lands on 21st April so I won't have my car til the end of the month.
Anyone know exactly where the ship docks?
(Please don't respond with silly answers like at the harbour, at the pier, in evan's a$$...).

evse82 04-10-2010 03:15 AM

The docks.... dumb ***

You know, that place in Melbourne where the big ships go with all the containers?

pfffft....
