FYI the Bose has 6x9s in the front with the 2x2 tweeter in the dash. The rears are 3.5 inches with maybe 1.5 inch dept. and maybe 3/4 inch magnet with just barely enough room to fit. I would urge you not to spend money on the rears. Totally not worth. You can't even hear them where they are located.
I replaced my bose 6x9s with Focal Polyglass 165VRS. The Slims aren't needed you have plenty of room with a spacer but that's what they had in stock and they sold them to me at the same price. |

Well thats good to hear because there is a significant displacement difference between a 6X9 and 6.5" driver. They are pretty close to an 8" if I am not mistaken.

speaker size
3.5 is the size for the back speakers...I just had a pair of Infinity put in.
:O) |
Sorry to sound stupid so the base system has no rear speakers just the holes cut for them?
so there are one in each door and the other two or in the dash? One question if i start with speakers first what kind would you suggest for the doors. Thanks |

Cut the cones out of the stock speakers and used em to mount the new ones. Same with the tweeters. As for the rears I havent done those yet. |

In the base model with the sport package it looks like the car didnt come with the 4" speakers behind seats. Does anyone know if the wiring for the speakers is run from the factory?
|
No it is not there you would have to run it yourself. Which I do not recommend even worrying about them.

Ok thanks for the follow up.

The base stock system has 6.5" 's in the front, with 1" tweeters (2.75 sq outer dim) in the dash, and no rear speakers. The Bose/NAV has 6x9's in the front, the same 1" tweeters in the dash and 3.5" speakers in the rear. Is this correct?? edit: ps "the weapon" is right I didn't even realize I had rear speakers in my car until I played with the fader controls lol. When the fader is at center it's almost like there is no sound in the rear because the 3.5's are so overpowered by the front speakers. If you fade back enough to hear the 3.5's the sound quality is poor. |
The rears really do add a ton of sound being that they are right next to your head. I would say I hear them the most. I agree with making sure they are tuned on the high side that tiny little cone will flutter like crazy if not. The dash speakers aren't true tweeters in that they are designed more like a tiny little woofer(all paper) they will sound far better if you can replace with a metal composite/dome type instead. Good luck
