That's the problem though. Car manufactures aren't looking at making the best interface for a radio's in cars. In fact most walk up to a audio company (bose, Harmony, jbl or other) and say you have a X amount of time with this car we don't care just get it done. There is no high end interfaces that will make you go wow with OEM radio's. They are all junk IMO. Hence why people like me always put in aftermarket,.

The reason that the mfgrs put in audio junk is that the VAST majority of people simply DO NOT GIVE A CRAP about high qualiy audio in their cars. Whether they have crap for stereo or the most sublime audio experience in the world is simply NOT going to drive car sales. People will buy the car whether it has a crappy stereo or a great one. More power to the audiophiles like you in the aftermarket segment, buy you will always be a niche player. If great audio was more important than that in the 370 car-buying segment then the car mfgrs would up their game.

I would expect to see CarPlay and MirrorLink support in the next generation of cars from most makes. They're always quite a bit behind the leading edge for both cost and support reasons as well as probably liability concerns from the bean counters & lawyers.

So where are you guys placing your iphones when you hook it up? in the cubby or?

not on my z, but i have the proclip base for my G, so thought i would just slide it in that when i get in the car.

Usually leave my phone in my pocket. I have been thinking of getting a Qi charger and leaving it in the console for wireless charging.

Lay the phone on the passenger side of the e-brake handle, and plug it into a charger in the center console pocket. My iPhone stays put even during aggressive maneuvering :twocents:

You do have to have the the phone hooked up to the HU via USB/hdmi-lightning adapter thingy, and the USB has to be plugged into USB1 slot (top).
Once you plug in then apple carplay auto launches on the HU. At least thats how it works for me. If I recall correctly, Android users can do their thing wirelessly. I usually just put my phone upside down in the cup holder. :icon17:
