Metra Single Din Kit Necessary?

I'm kind of new to the car audio world. Is the metra kit necessary? Can we not use the the stock trim/bracket and just switch it out?

I'm kind of new to the car audio world. Is the metra kit necessary? Can we not use the the stock trim/bracket and just switch it out?
