First Aftermarket Nav install in a 370Z 12.16.08
http://www.the370z.com/images/370zforum/nav%20370z.jpg
One of the Japanese base 370Z owner has installed an aftermarket nav system in the Z. Sorry about poor picture quality. Those of you that do not want to pay the extra 3 grands for touring model, this picture should give you an idea how the aftermarket nav would look in a 370Z. I have tried to brighten up a little. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2..._x/th_znav.jpg |
Looks to be an Eclipse or Pioneer unit....
|
it would be nice if they took pics in during the day....lol
but it looks good anyways |
Def. would not want to pay lots of money for a Nav...
there has to be better alternative. although i think it is wise to get a sport model (bigger brakes, aero, LSD, bigger wheels, & better tires....right?) |
I wish the picture/video was better quality..
|
This is making me rethink my strategy...
|
word I was thinking of gettin a fully loaded one with navi. But after market might be as good and cheaper.
"370z" This is the cheapest alternative for a built in navi. If you want a cheaper way buy a tom tom or garmin portable navi. |
but can you get the ipod interface and HDD with out the nav? I know you don't on the G. I really love my ipod intigration although it is not as good as it could be
|
well you can hook up your ipod to the video-in of any new headunit...thats not the issue...
Im more concerned about installation and such.. |

:tiphat: BTW, they were saying how shallow the depth is on the top area above the Head unit. I wonder what can we use the space for? A 2nd LCD? |
These are pictures of a aftermarket installs in the 350z to give ideas of what may be possible in the 370z.
This is extremely custom but nice from a 350z http://www.my350z.com/forum/attachme...8&d=1160502299 This is nice but double screen is to much http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../TonySuede.jpg Now this set-up is perfect exactly what I am talking about. I wonder if this would be possible in the 370 but still get bluetooth from a headunit like this. My knowledge of aftermarket hu is somewhat limited. http://www.my350z.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1169370406 |
2 screens is a bit much.......lol.....and not feeling the cloth interior

I really like that setup actually...I might have to do something similar if I can shed the weight off somewhere else... Also thats not cloth, thats either ultrasuade or alcantara, its very nice material for the dash... |

Meh... Top screen is GPS, bottom screen is everything else... That'd be idea. But honestly, I really like the stock navi since it integrates with everything else. You can have radio and GPS on one screen. In my mom's M35, the A/C controls are all in the same unit as well, so it shows radio, climate settings and GPS all on one screen.
I wonder if they'll do the same for the 370z. |
^^^ yes it will.
|
YES!!! I was hoping so.
I love that setup. |
the cloth on that dash looks like my couch's.

Agreed. I'm kind of shocked they didn't make the options a bit more broad... There's a couple things in the touring package I don't need, and I doubt ANYONE really cares about the metal pedals... But whatever. It probably doesn't even cost them anything to throw those in. The touring package is pretty pricey, but I thought about all the parts that go into making it and it's probably not more than 1,000 over their overhead. That's totally fine with me. Besides, the auto industry NEEDS the money right now, and if I want them to keep making good cars, I'll support them (except for GM... They can burn for their decisions)

Anyone know if a wiring and dash kit from the 350 will fit/work in the 370?
I want to upgrade the stock head to a double din nav unit and not sure if I can yet. |
|
^^^ That looks pretty clean
|
very nice indeed... ^
|

Amazon.co.jp: 富士通テン HD Dナビゲーショ& #x30F3;内蔵 HDD/DVD/地上デジタル ;TV 7.0 WVGA AVシステ but IMO there are so many double DIN indash available in the US, why go through the hassle from overseas. |

i think i found that type of nav here - http://www.eclipse-web.com/us/avn/avn6620spec.html.
|
do you need any sort of dash kit or specail hardware to drop in a double din nav system?
|
im lookin to do some kind of LCD or navi/dvd in the upper portion and leave the stock radio as is...anyone have suggestions or ideas...pics would be great but i doubt anyone has done this yet...
|
^ i'm in the same boat as you. but i think we will have to wait longer. either that or a handheld navi. my patience is not so good right now.
