Hopefully you can see from this picture that the buttons for the radio are all integrated into the dash area.

I figured they would be the same, but I wonder why Metra doesn't say the 09 one will fit the 11'. I almost ordered the Schoche just because they were the only ones I found that specifically said it would fit, everything I read though says the Metra is the better kit.

They may just not have updated the site...

A bit car-electronics naive here...

Do I need this dash-kit to install an aftermarket double-din head unit?

I have the '10 base model - my current factory unit looks like this:

http://ll.speedhunters.com/u/f/eagam...pit%20copy.jpg

I ask this because it seems like the factory unit is already a double-din. Can I just swap out the unit without the need of any other dash kit?

-------------

Edit: Question answered for me here (depends on the unit I guess, but in this case, I don't need this dash kit):

+1 I just bought a Kenwood Double Din, and was told by PC Richards I needed a Mount. However my research has told me otherwise. Can anyone confirm this before I start the install this weekend?

you can get away with the OEM trim as i mentioned, but it leaves a gap around most DD units.

You DO NOT need the dash kit if you have base model because it's a Double DIN opening (i'm assuming you're installing Double DIN Headunit). There's very small gap around it. It never bothered me enough to spend $50 on it.

There was a black plastic end plate by my HU. So even if you try to put something through the gap, it won't go though. There's a plastic surround (with kenwood)

Im about to pull the trigger and order this... but I rather order the factory dash kit which is like 200 bucks over this if it looks like sh*t

Read what this guy wrote on the reviews of it:

Hey guys,

First post to the forums but been reading around a bunch.

Know this thread is a little outdate but im installing my double din pioneer tomorrow morning. I got the metra dash kit just in case i was having trouble with the factory face plate but im sure it wont be an issue and i will end up returning it for my $26 back.

I will post later how everything turns out.

As i suspected, the factory faceplate fit FLAWLESSLY!

Already returned the dash kit to crutchfield. Now i have to figure out where to spend my $26 they owe me....

Anyone have issues withe the a/c button area? I attached it to the kit from crutchfield and it doesnt screw in securely. Its as if the factory screws are too long
