This set-up is night & day compared to OEM Bose sub and well worth it. Here are some pics and opinions:


Rockford Fosgate R500-1D Mono Sub Amp, Audiocontrol LC2i LOC, 4 Gauge Fosgate Amp kit mounted behind drivers seat:

If you tap into the speaker level outputs of the bose amp, you will only get highs or lows depending on which set you tap into. The reason is the bose amp splits the signal before going out to the speakers.

So instead of trying to sum multiple signals, tap into the low level signal going into the bose amp. This will give you a full signal with everything from highs to lows.

Thanks Matt....as usual ;)

So basically I can disconnect the wires from the bass output of the Bose that I tapped that I have going to the LOC (for sub amp) and replace them on the LOC with the low levels that would be going into the Bose and this will be good for both amps (high & lows)? Then I can completely remove the Bose amp? I wasn't sure if the frequency limiting was at the HU or the Bose amp.

Yes you can just use the low level full signal, I am not sure about removing the bose amp as I think some things go through it such as volume and a few steering wheel controls (BT phone)

I haven't looked at the wiring diagram yet, so do you know off hand which low level wires going into the Bose amp to connect to the L & R (+ & -) inputs on the LOC?

PS: I think I'm going to go ahead and order the Polk Audio DXi6500 and FOSGATE P400-2 to power them along with a set of base speaker mounts and Zenclosure spacers. Should finish it off...

I looked at the wiring diagram, and I might just be able to remove the amp. I saw that the Nav voice and BT go from the HU to the front speakers. So, if I'm snipping the front speaker wires before the Bose amp and connect to my LOC like planned, then I'm hoping the Nav voice (which I don't use) and BT will continue to the speakers. Unless for some reason they are processed at the Bose amp. I didn't see anything else going through the Bose amp.

I received my Polk Audio components and Fosgate amp along with an 0 gauge amp kit, distribution block (for the 2 amps) and some new 12 gauge speaker wire. Nissan just called to notify me that my speaker brackets are in. Now I know what I'll be doing this weekend ;)
