Default Kenwood DNX9990HD.. Garmin Nav question...

I currently have a DNX9990HD and it is my first Kenwood Headunit. I chose this unit after having a Pioneer for a few years because everyone said that it was the top of the line unit, and that garmin makes the best nav...

Well whenever I make a turn, the garmin does NOT recognize the turn immediately and takes a few seconds to recognize it. Is this normal for garmin? My Honda factory nav and my previous Pioneer Avic x920bt recognized the turns much more immediately. Also the voices sound much more muffled than the other units ive owned... Kind of disappointed in the Garmin nav part of the headunit to be honest....
