The bottoms are not flat so they kind of lock themselves in, I will be adding 3M tape on the back wall for added security. I don't see it needing any more then that.

Went to Pittsburg for a couple of days, but it will be done by tomorrow. Oh one other thing, this is my first ever venture at doing this. I've never done any kind of fiberglass work or autobody/paint work before this. There are no directions, plans or templates, this is on the fly in my drive way, so weather is a factor. :tiphat:

You bet. The problem is, it's a mirror image. What I mean by that is, in order to copy it would be like placing it in front of a mirror and looking at the one in the reflection, as opposed to side by side. What I've done is trace the original in the car, make a template from that and then turned it inside out. Here's where the issues come in, on the most important parts (the curves) I'm having a hard time seeing the template due to the foil. I have one part to do and then I'm off to the races. Another problem is, I'm a perfectionist with OCD and if it's off to the eye I won't rest until it is, so I tend to take my time.

YoungZ 10-09-2012 06:04 PM

I'm also a perfectionist when it come to this stuff so i totally know what ya mean. my reasoning with using the interior panel lines are to make it very close to perfect and from there its systematic just build both rings at the same time (make 2 of everything and tweak from there till it is perfect) since my car will be in a heated garage while i do it. weather sucks here!:shakes head: it will be my first time as well with fiber glass so gotta do it right.

tommyguns 10-09-2012 06:34 PM

Yep follow the lines, thats what I did. It does make it much easier. Second one is done just laying in the last coat of fiberglass now. After that dries I will set the ring and lay the cloth. Also had a chance to finish rubbing out the paint on the other one. Looks great.

Glad to hear it!
