I want to know how it sounds. Anyone actually use it yet? Any weird vibrations or rattles? I want a nice clean hitting sub in the trunk

Heli, now that you actually have the box installed, how hard is it to get to the spare? Did you modify anything to make it easier?

Honestly, I didn't even think about the spare, so I'm not sure.

Corrugated platform can be bent on the sub box line. or possibly cut and taped back together with 2" or 3" Black Tape to be able to fold up at the seem when spare tire needs to be taken out.

Can one of you see if the platform will slide out of the way and be pushed back in?

Velcro has worked for some people,,, I do not recommend it.

Once I get mine installed I'll post what I came up with. I will probably wind up cutting or folding the cardboard as you recommended. Hopefully I will only need to access the spare once a year or so.

Any luck on getting installation instructions together yet?

I have a Nismo and yes it already had the anchors for the cargo cover but did not come with the cover. I bought a cargo cover used from someone who was tracking the car. So this will not work if you have the cover?

It really helps with glare off the back glass and hides my laptop bag. Not willing to give it up.

Did you ever resolve the spare box not fitting with the spare on the Nismo for some reason?

Received the box on Friday and installed yesterday. I'm coming from a 10" Zenclosures rear firing box...and have to say the change is dramatic.

HUGE weight savings and I have my trunk back, so to speak. Acoustically I feel the bass significantly more as well. My wife even agreed...which tells you something :tiphat:

Only issues I had were having to enlarge the cutout a bit to fit my woofer...but that's better than being too large. I also needed to add a little foam to get the woofer to fit snug in the corner. Overall...relatively minor issues.

I HIGHLY recommend this box and will post up pics when I get a chance.

Sub Box Option

I thought about the removal of the sub box prior to designing my sub box to fit in the rear hatch area where the foam piece is located. The sub box in this location does not have to be removed in the event of a flat tire. I fabricated my sub box out of fiberglass with a basa-core weighting in at 6 lbs. The sub box has a gel-coat finish with a similar finish like the plastic 370Z interior panels. The sub box is designed to be flush with the 370Z hatch floor and has a speaker cloth covering the sub and signal processor for a stealth look. The sub box houses a 8" sub, Audison bitTen, and a 5-channel amp. Bear in mind, that a 8" sub is the maximum size sub that will fit in this area of the rear hatch. Sound-wise is good mostly due the the bitTen signal processor.

Check out my post or PM me if curious.

It makes us very happy to hear you are all enjoying the space savings with better bass responce from our Magic Box...

As for the Spare tire access, it has been covered... Corrugated piece will need minor modification... Or it might even slide out of the way (to be confirmed). You will have full access to the spare.

I installed my box with a JL Audio 10w3v3-2 pushed by the sub channel on a JL xd500/3.

After I got the gains dialed in and everything tuned, it sounds great. Nice deep, tight bass. I wouldn't want any more or less bass overall. It is perfect for me in this sized car. Matches really well with a set of amplified db6501 components.

Only problem I have is securing the box, and still allowing for removal of the spare tire.

As of right now, the box is still unsecured. If I were to use some kind of bolt, into the sidewall of the hatch, through the tie-down location, the spare would be almost impossible to remove unless I modify, the plastic sheet and the foam underneath.

I tried velcro, and it doesn't work. Luckily, the box stays pretty much in the same location and doesn't move around much.

Wicked CAS: Have you guys had any luck getting mounting hardware together yet, or a tutorial and parts list? I know you mentioned that you were still working on it.

If I could just get this box secured, without issues, I would be 100% happy with the product.

I wish I could say I had better instructions then what was posted here... There is enough info here to get it installed... As of right now, Accessing spare tiire will need modification to the Foam piece and the corrugated plastic peice. Unfortunately we haven't had a chance to get our donor Z here, Owner of the car is still traveling.

I know helidriver had posted some pictures with hardware he had used on page 4.

Placed my order today for the package deal! I am hoping it ships soon!

martin82 08-20-2012 02:27 PM

one thing I forgot when you guys were starting this thread, the right side foam has nothing in it, so a lot of air space could be used on the right side of the hatch instead of the left (jack and tools).

I got my shipment within a couple of days ...Great deal Naz! I will post pics on complete

GOOD lord the sound is fantastiic. Naz your stealth corner box with thr jl 10 v3v3 and the amp and thr hertzhienergy speakers have surpassed my expectations, Great deal! thanks.

ps. My local car toys folks were very impressed with the sound and fit and look of the box!

MDG-Z 09-02-2012 09:10 AM

I just anchored it into the foam underneath the box, as the likely hood of needing the spare is pretty low for me. It doesn't quite flush-mount my nismo, but with a low-pro Rockford Fosgate R2ds2 (pretty much perfect match for the volume of the enclosure) this thing hits hard and fast. Great sound from Rap to EDM to Metal. Matched with a lair of amplified Infinity Kappas and a Clarion nx602, everything came together beautifully.
