While a 6.5" component will sound real good, you won't get the same bass as you would with a dedicated sub. Those woofers just can't move that amount of air volume. If you push too hard, they'll either distort and/or blow.
If you're looking for that low frequency bass, a small 10" sub will provide very nice fill. I ran a 10" alpine type R sub in my camaro in a relatively small, non ported enclosure (1 ft^3). The results were very good, nice full sound. I had full range component speakers up front, midrange woofers in the B pillars, and the sub in the hatch area. |
