370z Standard Audio (No BOSE) Sounds Ridiculously Good

Seriously, the standard audio from Sport or no package sounds better than my BOSE 5.1 surround audio from my Mazdaspeed 3 in terms of crispness, clarity, and treble. Very unexpected that Nissan 370z standard audio sounds this good. The standard audio on Mazdaspeed 3 in comparison, is an absolute junk. The standard audio in 370z sounds about as good as Lexus IS350 standard audio. Of course the IS350 has better sorround sound / soundstage to it due to extra number of speakers but the clarity and amount of treble seem very close to it. Looks like Nissan did their homework on the 370z as far as performance on the road and sound is concerned. The one I tested was 2010 370z Sport Pkg.

fastv 07-25-2011 12:10 PM

are you talking about the Base Z.

Vaughanabe13 07-25-2011 12:18 PM

I found the base model 2011 Z's to have pretty terrible audio. :(
Almost no bass and a very "honky" and hollow sounding midrange. It was tolerable for radio but if I was cranking my tunes through it I would be pretty disappointed. Even my 97 maxima with the standard audio has much better audio quality than the 2011 base Z34 I drove.

shadoquad 07-25-2011 12:20 PM

My base stereo is awful. Any amount of high volume means that it crackles, and in complex music, pieces go missing.

Red__Zed 07-25-2011 12:23 PM

I want some of what you're smoking.

Yes. 370z with Sport Package or No package? I am referring to the standard audio that is not BOSE.

You either got the defective one or you have very different taste in sound signatures. Sounds like you like having good bass. I'm looking for one that provides crisp and clear sound. The treble sound quality is pretty darn good. I was surprised. I don't really care for base.

I'm not smoking anything. I have clean record.

I am serious about the sound. I think I have learned a lesson NOT to buy a car with BOSE audio.

I'm not into bass. I like crisp, clear treble, and for that the stock radio fails hard.

Since several base owners have already chimed in here sharing my experience, perhaps you got the rare one that sounds good, rather than everyone else being defective.

or perhaps you're trolling

Red__Zed 07-25-2011 12:36 PM

I'm going with troll based on the username.

nismonster 07-25-2011 12:36 PM

Actually I gotta say the base stereo is pretty bad...at least *my* base stereo is...even with an aftermarket h/u and good eq settings, I won't turn it up past midway.

But if you like the standard audio, then that means you will be saving a lot of money that most base audio owners must spend to make things tolerable

I'm not talking about high volume. It's the sound quality I'm looking for. You want high volume go get an optional audio system that has better amps and have speakers that are designed to handle higher output.

Sounds like most drivers / owners here like loud music.

shadoquad 07-25-2011 12:47 PM

Definitely trolling

Good Driver 07-25-2011 12:48 PM

Do you guys understand that also having optional audio system (BOSE in this case with extra number of speakers) weighs more? It adds weight to the vehicle and will affect the following:

- Acceleration
- Handling
- Braking

I made a huge mistake going with BOSE audio system on my car. This isn't necessary... and wasted good $2000.

Thank you,

Is there a button that enables Ignore User? This feature is really needed. I don't want to associate with low class people.

Thanks,

shadoquad 07-25-2011 12:57 PM

There is an ignore feature on here. Go to UserCP link, and add names to your ignore filter. :tiphat:

Thank you,

Because I am bored.
There is no proof that the BOSE system actually weights more than the base audio system. Most of the extra weight is from things like leather seats, heaters, etc.

+ too much burgers and fries and lack excercise... oh wait, that sounds like me... :icon14: (but im not over weight at all :icon17: )

Red__Zed 07-25-2011 01:13 PM

Why didn't you look at the cloth material when you were evaluating the stereo?

Truth. Any car with a base stereo would have the cloth seats, as both leather and bose are part of the touring pkg.

******* logic, how does it work?

b1adesofcha0s 07-25-2011 01:21 PM

Did somebody say troll? :rofl2:

I haven't heard the base system much myself but from the people I've met that have it, it's one of the first things they get rid of. My BOSE system is pretty good and much better than the base.

Weight savings are very small if anything at all. No where near enough to make a difference in performance. Don't believe me? Check out my 1/4 mile time in my sig, I have the touring package. If you really care about saving weight on the sound system, then you should be tearing it out of the car.

bigaudiofanat 07-25-2011 01:37 PM

If you want sound quality a bose system nor a base z audio system comes close to a good head unit and a good set of 120 dollar speakers. If you want serious than new head unit amp and speakers. But stock and bose to me blows.

Thank you,

haven taken many 370z's apart "over 20" I can simply say that the bose system at MOST adds 6 pounds if that. The 6x9's in the doors weigh just as much as the stock base ones. So your not gaining or losing with bose.

I gotta be honest, he makes a pretty valid case for why the m3 offers the best bang for buck under 100k.

KaienZ34 07-25-2011 01:48 PM

This guy must have a dicky-do. That's when his gut sticks out more than his little dicky do.
