Default Retain phone button with aftermarket HU

I was looking on youtube video and I came across this video

The guy said the phone button work on the steering wheel. My question is, has anyone able to get the phone button to work on their steering wheel? If so, what did you use to get that to work?

I just call the guy from the number that was provided in youtube video, he said use the latest version of metra and manual program it. But he didn't really tell me what was the step he did. If you guy were able to get it to work, please show me how you did it. Thanks.

you have to jump ( splice ) three wires in the harness that goes into the factory bluetooth brainbox in the hatch. Unplug the factory bluetooth box and remove it. steering wheel switch a,b, and ground in / out have to spliced . Pin 12 jumped to pin 17. pin 13 to pin 18. pin 14 to pin 19. Then you have to manually program the unit. All buttons work fine in my touring. The instructions are http://contentdocs.installernet.com/...icle/12144.pdf Steering wheel instructions are here http://contentdocs.installernet.com/...icle/10973.pdf. Dont use the wires from the instruction book that come with the controler . They reversed the wire colors in the book.

Hu, I find it hard to believe you have to remove the stock BT device. I think metra finally figured it out and the firmware upgrade allows you to do so OP. The only bad thing is getting that upgrade cable from metra, I have heard it can be a PITA.

Well, those links are to the instructions on metra's site. Not so hard to believe. I didn't upgrade the firmware in the controller. Went down to the electronics store, bought the metra adapter off the shelf ( who knows how long it was on the shelf for ), read the directions on metra site. Programmed the unit manually and all my buttons work just fine. Oh, I guess you don't have to remove the stock bluetooth box from the trunk. You do need to unplug the harness for it though and splice the wires from the metra instructions .

Me and installer tried to install this today and one thing came across was pin 13 is missing. We check it many time and we thought maybe the diagram is backward, but pin 17, 18, 19 is also empty. Has anyone came across this problem?
