Did you change out speakers too? Did the new HU make any difference in the sound quality?

It all depends, like I said you can rip it all out and yes you will have to change the speakers. You can keep the head unit and amp and use the jl and req to install new amps and install new speakers. What are you asking towards? A new head unit will make a difference in the base model but a new head unit can not be added in the bose model without putting new speakers in.

Mostly just curious if he changed it all out or just the HU and amps. Ive got the new amp and sub in mine and it sounds good but I didnt get the re q yet. I still cant turn it half way up or it over powers the rest of the stereo. Will adding the re q change the sound or just allow more volume that the Bose was blocking?

Well by putting a req in you need a new amp and a new sub. The req just cleans the signal for a new amp to take in. You would probably be more happy to get a JL clean sweep and add a new amp and new speakers.

I put in the Kcker ZX300.1 amp and kicker 1o inch sub, just wanted to see how it sounds without spending more on the re q, as I have heard that they die out after about a year. So with the JL clean sweep I can replace the speakers too without replacing the wiring harness?

Also Im not sure, I will have to ask the installers, but I think they hooked the new amp after the stock one and had the power coming from the battery. Good or bad?

just checked my old sub holder and stock amp is in it still so they must have just plugged into or cut into the existing wires and ran a new power cable to the battery.

What the installers did was fine, the req and jl get the amped signal and than clean it. If everything was tuned properly nothing should go bad in a year. Yes you will not need a new harness but you will have to tap into the wires coming out of the stereo amp and run them to the jl and also have the req for the sub. The JL is the same as the req but for the speakers.

I just had this unit installed on my car, although the installer said that the unit did not have an input for the steering wheel controls which sounded wrong to me.

Amazon.com: PAC SWIJACK Steering Wheel Remote Interface: Automotive

that's what I had, and he said it wouldn't work, but it seems like the internet says otherwise.
