Default Infinity IMS question

Looking to upgrade speakers from the Bose but keeping the HU (Bose with Nav). I am planning on running a multichannel amplifier that will handle a 2-way component set and a sub (not set on the amp or speakers yet). I am not replacing the HU.

Question: When using one of these summing devices (Infinity IMS)... Can I come straight from the HU to the Infinity IMS and then out to the new amplifier/speakers and bypass the Bose amp altogether? Understand that I am replacing everything downstream of the head unit. I recall someone mentioning that the Bose attenuates the signal such that the speakers can handle the output and I wasn't sure whether I am connecting this device to the HU or to the Bose amplifier.

I know others are using the MTX reQ 5 and RF 360.2's this more of a general question regarding wiring it in.

I appreciate any insight. This may have been discussed somewhere. If so please point me in the right direction. I can't take the Bose any longer.

If I remember correctly, and if you search through the threads, I believe the consensus was to place the summing device AFTER the Bose amp. Can't really remember, but that is how I have mine. After the Bose amp, I'm feeding the stock speaker wiring from that to my summing device. From there, to the new amp.

Thank you!! I have been looking all over for that specific discussion and couldn't find it. I remembered reading about it a while ago but couldn't remember the details. I appreciate it.

Yes you have to keep the bose amp in place and tap in after that. Never heard of the infinity only used the mtx re-q and jl clean sweep.

Yeah I was planning on using the MTX req or the RF 360.2 but my installer is an infinity dealer. We also wanted to bypass the bose amp altogether and come straight from the HU to the IMS and then my new amp. That's more why I posed the question. I am guessing that if I want to bypass the bose amp altogether then I would need a new head unit and I don't want to do that.

Big Audio I thought you posted something regarding how the signal is handled by the head unit and the bose amp. Do you recall where that post is located or could you briefly repeat it?

You can use the low output signal coming from the bose head unit only if the infinity can accept it even at that point I have not tried it. I have only went after the bose amp either which is what I recommend. With bose you can not just replace what you want.

Thanks man. We are going to come off of the bose amp to the IMS then out to the new amp. I'll post again when we finish if there are any problems. I appreciate all of the help.
