Damn, that is one fine looking unit. The clarity of the fonts and display is freakin' amazing. The only thing I don't like is the not-so-great fitment of the mounting kit. Nothing is centered or flush. That would drive me CRAZY!

Now that it's June, what's the official price on this?

Westwood 06-25-2010 02:53 PM

It's centered, I just take crooked pictures. :icon14:

I didn't use a mounting kit, just pulled out the old unit and put in the new. There is a Metra kit that you can buy, but I'm not sure if it reduces the gaps or not. Maybe someone who has used one can speak to that.

Edit: I found someone who has the kit installed. I can't decide if it's worth the money to fill in the gap.

Fair enough then; thanks for finding the link on the other install. This really is one sweet unit.

It looks great. I just can't decide if I want to mess with it right now. The 95-100 degree heat might have something to do with it. :icon14:

I am not sure how this would translate to your where abouts.

But
9980HD has HD Radio built in
Can do Dual i-pods / i-phones
Has the ability to pull OBDII Info from your car on the screen (need optional part)
Processor in the unit is much faster then the 9960
Album art comes a lot faster, search options much faster.
It now has Top 10 favorite for i-pod iphone.
It has Pandora built in

For the first time you can do HD radio and Sirius at the same time since ithas HD built in.

I also believe it will have the latest Garmin Nav built in.

I know I have sold numerous DNX models overseas and they have had good luck with getting maps via Garmin.
