I am not familiar with RE subs and I suspect they are fairly new to the market. JL has been making subs for over 25 years and have always been very highly regarded. I strongly feel they make the make the best subs in the auto industry. Many others will dissagree but thats my opinion. I have purchased probably over 20 JL subs in the last 15 years and I have loved each one of them. I cant say that about any other brand. What I like about JL subs is even thier low end subs rock! I have built some excellent home theater subs using JL drivers that would destroy many commercialy sold HT subs costing over 2 grand!

I am a JL fan all the way. Tight, clean bass.

Yeah I guess you guys are right. Lamborghinis, Mercedes, Ferraris, and Porsche owners customized to JL Subs. I just googled "lamborghini subwoofer" "mclaren subwoofer" etc. Lamborghinis, Mercedes, Ferraris, and Porsche owners customized to JL Subs, none were RE (when i googled RE or Resonant...).

So the final verdict of best in each category(according to a quick research):
Subwoofers: JL Audio
Speakers: Focal
Amplifiers: JL Audio, Zapco, Arc Audio.
Double-din Head Unit: STRICTLY preference. I saw no trend in a particular brand or brands of these "high rollers". (I saw Alpine IVA, Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer to name a few)

I was surprised I didn't find any of these types of owners to carry Focal amps and subs. I guess that's out of what they were known for. Oh yeah and they prefer Dynamat.

RE is not the company it was when it was started about 10 yrs ago. They made some amazing speakers at that tiem but the engineers left and started other ventures ( FI, Ascendant audio) RE audio went downhill when USamps bought them and commercialized and mass produced all of their lines. Id take the majority of Jl's line any day.

Not familiar with RE as well. Nor wold I lay my money on JL as I have said before to me they charge way to much. I would compare Image dynamics or the polk SR line with the JL's

looks to me like you want a budget free answer given you are picking between REs and JLs... I would honestly go JL all the way... no sub ever sounded as good in my G35 as did my 12w6 w/ a 1000watts behind it...

JL + Phoenix Gold is always a winning combo

JL is best bought from a local dealer. That's where the price flexibility is. At the price I'm paying JL is a no brainer. Right now I have 1 JL 10w3v3 in a H.O. Wedge. It beats, but eats up 75% of my hatch. I'm probably going to do 2 8w7's in the spare tire area next. JL will not disappoint.

the W7 is still one of the best subs on the market. Are their better options? sure but in terms of a compromise between spl and SQ the W7 is a great choice. My personal favorit e sub to date is the 13w6v2. Ive bet Ive owned more subs than the majority of this forum combined( bigaudiofanatic can vouch for that)
