I considered the same, but decided against because I really wasn't trying to put holes in my cars junk drawer :p

I even bought a gromet kit from the Lowe's specialty hardware section (in case you are trying to find something that would work for you). They had lots to choose from and should be readily accessible. :twocents:

The sub sits perfectly flat if you place it in. I have a small bump as the local shop put a wing nut on top of the bolt holding it down( so easy to remove if I need to access spare). If I trim the foam underneath the cardboard liner, it should be pretty flat. No rattle at all. Huge difference in the bass fill. I don’t use the remote. Had them adjust the remote so that I just adjust the Bass with the 1400NEX head unit. Used Focal PS165V1 components for mid and tweeter. Small external focal amp. All fit well and hidden behind dash. Ran in Network mode, but the local shop still used the crossovers.

Head unit has a glossy capacitive screen so a bit of glare, but have had it for a few weeks and don’t notice any problem viewing (but granted a bit of glare at times.) However, nice reactive screen.

Sub will rattle the rear view mirror easily.. all the Bass I need, although I’m not one to play it so you hear me 2 blocks over. That being said, I still need to ‘feel’ the bass.

Is there a way to see how your shop set up the sub without the controller? I’m very interested in buying and installing this in my car however, I don’t want to route and hide the remote somewhere. Thanks

When installing this eith factory Bose and nav system, can you hook it up to the sub audio cable from the original bose sub?

sub'ed

The cerwin vega requires a #8 power wire that'll need to be run from the battery. It also needs the remote turn on wire, I don't know if that could be picked up from the bose amp. I'm also not sure about the bose wiring, hopefully someone that knows the bose system can answer that.

Some really great information in this thread.. My Z has the factory Bose w/ Nav so I bought this sub in the dark hoping to get some help once installation time came.

A local audio shop quoted me something like $430 plus parts to install it which seemed extremely high to me. Now I think I'm just going to try to tackle the install myself. My thought at the moment is to complete the install up to the point of connecting the sub to the factory nav unit, then take it to a pro to finish the job. Does this sound like a crazy idea or is there a simpler way to finish it up myself?

I installed the sub a few months ago. I've been happy with it. Did you have any specific questions about installation? I have the bose audio and the workshop 12 brainiac tablet running all my audio.

Does anyone have details for a Bose Nav Unit? Do I need a LOC? Or can I grab the sign from the NAV unit? What wires am I looking for?

Has anyone figured out how to connect this sub to the Bose systems with the navigation units?

I will be installing this sub in my '09 base sport along with a nifty city tablet, new component woofers and tweeters and, an amp pushing ~50 watts to the speakers. When you installed yours, did you have an amp for the door speakers? If so, did you run two sets of RCA's out of the tablet or one set to the speakers amp and then, to the CV sub? Do you tie the two remote wires (the blue ones that tell the amp to turn on) together or hook them up separately?

I am not a complete noob but, it's been 20+ years since I have done anything remotely close to this and I haven't found how people essentially hook up two amps to to the tablet.

TIA

Finally got the sub hooked up with a nifty fifty tablet. Great sounding sub that goes quite nicely with the tablet? I ended up running the front speakers/tweeters off of the speaker wires through one amp and the sub off of the RCA's. Connected both amp remote wires to the tablet remote wire and now it's golden!!
