wow! keep it up!

speedfreak28 02-25-2010 03:02 PM

whats the current available mounting depth without spacer rings?

cdawg410 02-25-2010 04:49 PM

Will a JL Audio 12W1v2-4 fit in this box? It was the last one they had in a going out of business sale so I had to shlt or get off the pot... I shat. Just need to know if I need to try to sale it now or if I can keep it.

antennahead 02-25-2010 05:36 PM

Is this thing also going to include a wooden or fiberglass area like is shown in the pics, that extends out and fills in the back area where the removable carpet is, or just be a round fiberglass piece that sits down inside the spare tire? Also, I am confused with the mention of it sitting up an inch higher than the top of the present foam and cover. This "inch higher" wouldn't seem to matter if it is a round, inside the spare only design, but if it covers the entire area, I wouldn't want it to cover up the present "hooks" that the net attaches to. I guess the finished product will answer all these questions.

tbonesteak 02-25-2010 06:05 PM

so theoretically, this should work even if you leave your spare out, correct? will there be an 8" option?

I would say no. The idea is to keep the spare have a sub and lose no cargo space. :)

Wicked CAS 02-26-2010 03:35 PM

The top section that is shown in wood will be fiberglass, which is the section that is made out of foam in your cars now. And that section will be part of the enclosure. You lay your carpet over the enclosure for a total stealth look.

Edit. No longer interested in 8

antennahead 02-26-2010 08:42 PM

Will the area where the speaker attaches be recessed a little, so the speaker surround doesn't hit the carpet with excursion? Thanks.

There would be a grille in most cases under the carpet, and yes the speaker is recessed a little but not much as we need the mounting depth as much as possible.

jikhead 02-27-2010 09:40 AM

Your box sure looks better than the one I made myself. However, my concern would be the final cost to consumer. It looks like you guys are investing quite a lot of time in building that thing. So where do you foresee the price range to be?

Ricochet48 02-27-2010 12:32 PM

Box looks good so far. As others mentioned, I'd hope that the lip for the sub will be recessed a bit to make up for excursion. Also what's the approximate cubic feet of airspace. I would want to put something like an eD 13Av2 in there (similar to about a JL 6v2). Finally, how about an option for recessed amps on each side?

ZoomtoZ 02-27-2010 07:40 PM

Whats with the grooved lines other than design? This will be covered by the carpet anyhow. But it does look good can't wait for finished product and pricing.

tommyguns 02-27-2010 08:14 PM

I'm in, but I would love an idea on a price.

+3. Price would be nice.:stirthepot: This is looking like something I could purchase, but there are options out there created by some DIYers.

I think cutting the carpet revealing the sub and a also a recessed option for amp-s is a great idea, also do you think 1.25 cubic feet airspace is attainable with around a 7.75/8" mounting depth. Maybe try my JL12W6v2 in there with the HD900/5 amp on the side flush mounted....hmmmmm

mo, money, mo money.

tbonesteak 02-28-2010 12:03 PM

from looking at their other products on their website, I think this is going to cost a pretty penny. plus you will have to buy shallow mounts = even more $$$

Wicked CAS 02-28-2010 12:31 PM

The box is .8 Cu ft, about 3.5" mounting depth. Yes you will need a shallow sub... We listened to all the requests made by 370Z owners... General request was a hidden enclosure that uses the spare tire well. We have enough room in there so if you have a grille on the sub there will be plenty of room for excursion.

If someone wanted to install a sub like the 12w6 it would have to be inverted.

If you wanted to make an amp rack on the sides there are plenty of room, This can easily turn into a custom trunk, but that woulkd take away from the hidden, stealth design of this enclosure.. But I won;t stop anyone from doing it.

If one was to pit the amps on side I would k keep them seperate so that the box would still be removable for easy access to the spare.

I don't want to talk about price, I am working on becoming a forum sponsor, I will be happy to talk about it after.

Potential of this enclosure is big, you can go totaly stealth and no one will know you have a sub... BTW there is plenty of room under the strut bar hallow space where the foam piece is for amplifiers, special a small amplifier design like the JL New XD series or ARC Audio.

Or you can go totaly custom and invert the sub with some counter sunk amps on each side...

roplusbee 02-28-2010 06:01 PM

Cool. Watching and waiting.......................

cvega 03-05-2010 04:15 PM

Bumpin this up this is actually my car being worked on and I kno its going to come out amazing...

cdawg410 03-05-2010 06:42 PM

Really curious as to why this is taking so long and there is such secrecy as to what the final price range is going to be. To be fair patience is not one of my strong points. Just tell me already!

cvega 03-05-2010 08:27 PM

well Wicked C.A.S might have been brewing up that their was gonna be a box made but i only gave him my car last week so basically they've only been working on my car for 9-10 days...not to mention other projects comin outta that shop

Wicked CAS 03-06-2010 11:30 AM

ALMOST THERE, Got the First one out of the mold. Getting thois one finished today. Will have finished pictures later this evening.

And finaly done, We set up the Donor car with JL AUDIO XD600/1 Amplifier. This amplifier is smaller then the HD sries amps, We were comfortably able to install it under the pass seat. We also wanted to try out the 13tw5 Slim sub, Biy are we glad we did..... AMAZING BASS responce, even though we only added the sub and amo to the factory stereo we were pretty amazed with the amount of bass and how low this sub was able to play, yet it was very fast and hard hitting...

Here is spme pictures, we chose to show the subwoofer, and will be sending out a carpet sample to get peferated and have it be available for those looking to finish the trunk with a detailed and finished look.

For those who want to conseal the whiole sub you can by using the black styrofoam piece that comes in the trunk and lay on top of the box and lay your carpet over it. I personaly like seeing the sub, but you certainly can cover it.

One other option is to place the carpet on top of the e\mpty enclosure, Mark the whole, cut center and screw the sub in with the carpet in between the suband box, which will give it a nice finished look as well. if you were to take the box out carpet will be attached top the box and sub.

We carpeted the bottom of the enclosure for a snug fit in to the spare. What you will need to do is unblot the spare tire nut, Position the magic box in place, carefully lift the sub box back out and tighten up the nut without moving the spare. Then simply just drop the box back in.

Pictures shown with a 13tw5, we still have the 10" slim sub option available...

cvega 03-07-2010 02:14 AM

Review for everyone. I love it. Finally got some real bass in the car. I am one of these bassheads which is why I chose the 13". Due to money situations I was unable to get the Kenwood headunit that I want at the moment which is why its hooked up to my stock unit. Still sounds amazing so its kinda crazy to think that its only gonna sound better than this. Of course i wanna get all my interior speakers done as well but in due time haha.

Just waiting on my perforated carpet and once I get the the money the Z will be back at Wicked C.A.S to get the headunit put in.

Thanx again Nazar and your team for doing a great job.

tjlazer 03-07-2010 02:18 AM

Anyway you can install the sub and have it sit flush so you can cover it with the mats?

cvega 03-07-2010 02:30 AM

This was my original plan for my trunk just so it was totally stealth but after some talk wit Wicked C.A.S I opted to show off the sub. I figured i do have a 13" in my trunk why not show it off haha. Trunk is still useable and of course the sub has a grill incase of anything. Plus with the perforated carpet it will sit more flush as oppose to how it looks with the grill sticking up...

kdoske 03-07-2010 02:55 AM

The sub box is great quality but it really should be flush imo.

ZoomtoZ 03-07-2010 08:54 AM

^ x2

cvega 03-07-2010 11:44 PM

Of course anyone can get that flush look but there would have to be no grill on the sub. Not really wise in my opinion because of the position of the sub but people can do wat they want. Even with the grill my sub will sit more flush once i get the carpet put in. U guys will see more pics once that gets put in...

tbonesteak 03-08-2010 09:52 AM

i wish there was a hard cover or something up top wout the grill to make it sit flush. The whole point of this box was for it to be completely stealth.

Wicked CAS 03-08-2010 10:19 AM

Sub is pretty much flush, only reason it sticks out is beacase of the grille.

If it was ordered with a 10" sub (depending on the sub) and no grill you could lay your carpet right over the sub. Again no grille. I have seen other members build the box and lay the carpet right over the woofer.

#2 option is to have the styrofoam black piece over the box and lay the carpet over it as well. this will raise the floor about 3/4" or so.

All this without spending an extra dime.

If you were to lay them on the ground this is how it would look upside down.

+1 Stealth is/was the reason I was following this thread.

cab83_750 03-08-2010 10:24 AM

As designed-as-of-today, and as others previously asked, what is the tentative pricing with/without the sub?

Thanks.

kgreen 03-08-2010 12:00 PM

^ yes please

cdawg410 03-08-2010 07:21 PM

I know I'm just one dude, so I probably don't matter much however, it's maddening that we can't get an answer/estimate on the price for this thing.

Why am I so anxious to get the price? Well I've got a shelf full of car stereo components that I'd like to get put in my car, I need to know if this is a viable option or will it be priced out of my desired spending limit.

$hit man $hit........:eekdance:

The box is stealth, as stealth as you want it to be realy.

If you prefer a TOTAL stealth look, simply lay your carpet over it with no grille.

If you want to use the grille and still be stealth simply use the black styrofoam lay it on top of the box and lay the carpet across the trunk.

If you prefer to see the subwoofer and have a grille, well pictures are shown with the sub and a grille expodes.

PRICING WILL BE AVAILABLE AS SOON AS I AM A FORUM SPONSOR WHICH IS IN THE WORKS. I JUST WANT TO FALLOW THE RULES.

THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY PRICE.

Ricochet48 03-09-2010 06:22 PM

Wow that turned out great! I would definitely want to show off my sub if I had that setup, but I can understand those wanting the stealth look (I'm a "flashy" guy). I just don't like being limited to a shallow sub, but understand that with this design, that's your only option--unless I invert it, which would take up even more room than a standard enclosure (like the Zenclosure ones).

Any plans on making a fancy fiberglass rear firing one for standard size subs?

cvega 03-10-2010 01:06 AM

Like I said I orginally wanted stealth but seeing the sub exposed is really nice IMO. I can actually order a seperate carpet to switch it from being exposed and non expsed now that i think about it. U would be surprised how low the JL shallow sub hits. I was really surprised....

AK370Z 03-10-2010 09:01 PM

Subscribed. I told myself, the ONLY way I will add a sub to my Z if I get to keep my spare tire. I am liking what I'm seeing
