Any interest on Brainiac 10.1" Kit?

Hey everyone

I don't post too often but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in one of these kits? They already have kits compatible with the 350z, FRS, etc but they would like to see if they can garner any interest from 370z owners before beginning their R&D phase. Please indicate whether or not you'd like this to be available for the 370z. Thanks!

They also have a 7" double din if anyone prefers that instead.

Here's a link to their website and kickstarter where they've posted a bunch of pictures and videos.

MicntaeG35 12-17-2015 02:16 PM

kenchan 12-17-2015 02:36 PM

Don't care for the name either but this is exactly what I'd like, personally would like it as customizable to the person add possible

I don't get it, why not just make a kit for a tablet. Instead they took an android system and removed almost all the good things about an android unit.

yea i couldn't agree more...or leave it open so i can download and run any app

Yes, would be interested in both the 10" snap in or the 7" (if they can do fit & finish to be installed in the cubby)

Then they could also offer the cheap insert for the cubby that you could drop your own device in it.....

I actually like the idea of a closed program for the car like this. Cleaner to me and built to actually be in the car. Needless to say tablets are a good choice as well.

I would be interested, depending on the price point!

AntiVenom 01-12-2016 06:56 AM

Looks DOPE.

Edit: anyone know what the projected release timetable is? I want to do a stereo, but if its anytime in the next year I will just wait for this and build around it when it comes.

I spoke with them and they're expecting this to be in the second half of this year.

You are able to download and install any Android apps with this setup

Is it safe to assume it will support FM Radio? HD Radio? I actually listen to the radio quite a bit.

Progress Update: Poll – Which vehicle is next? | Workshop 12

I tweeted at them about 370z folks not getting a chance to get in on the 10% preorder discounts and they said they might be able to work out a group buy =)

so... VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

It may try to anal probe you but the convenience factor should outweigh the butt raping.

Workshop12 01-19-2016 11:17 AM

Hi Everyone!

Thanks @butterysuede for introducing a thread about Brainiac! :)

My name is Tim Neil and I'm one of the co-founders of Workshop 12 where we want to bring the latest concept/connected car technology back to the cars that we own and love. Really modern technology and style, but in a way that looks like the car should have come this way from the factory.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about Brainiac. We haven't set ourselves up as a vendor as of yet, so I'm unable to post links to our product website. I want to make sure we follow the rules.

We're looking at expanding our snap-in kit line up to 6 additional vehicles this year and are working on figuring out which vehicles should be next. We already have 3-4 vehicles on preorder now (Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ, 05-07 WRX/STI, 02-05 350Z) which we are targeting for a July delivery date.

Here are a couple of pictures of Brainiac prototype installed in a 02-05 350Z:

We are located in Mississauga.. but we don't have a showroom quite yet. We do however work with local car owners for 3D dashboard scanning and test fitting :)

Voted. Would this work on touring models with factory nav (replacing the factory unit of course)? I would love to be able to use google maps to get around LA traffic!

ban25 01-22-2016 05:03 PM

Based on the percentage increase, it looks like we've had 235 votes so far for the 370z.

CanadianSteel 01-24-2016 12:43 AM

Oh my god I just realized you guys are doing this! It's going to look amazing. Hope you decide to give the Z a try and we get to purchase it.
Would this completely replace the whole navigation setup as well for the navi guys here? Bluetooth streaming and stuff we don't have access because Bose sucks?
