To shorten the clutch peddle so its a shorter distance to engage the gear or motion too engaging the gear? instead of traveling the stock distance?

You will get used to it...I agree.
Oh, a friend pulled the Miata sticker off his and it said Tonka under it...I think you can adjust the clutch belt from the bottom driver's side.

you cant shorten the engagement point as far as I know, but you can shorten the travel.
