We're all pulling for him here. I'm glad to hear that he had a good surgeon. Keep us updated.

Trips 10-14-2009 06:27 PM

Great to hear! will keep on praying for him Ak.

AK370Z 10-15-2009 08:51 PM

update

Thanks everyone. I can't describe in words how much your support means.

He is doing a little better. Today they took out the baloon pump that was pumping the heart artificially. He is now pumping on his own (with couple of low dose heart medicine and an external pacemaker if something needed correction). His body is pretty swelled up but the surgeon told us it's normal after big heart surgery and it'll take at least 7 days to go back to normal. He is still intubated (artificial breating machine aka VENTILATOR) but at least his vitals and stats are showing progress.

We just have to wait and see how he does.

thanks.

AK

Trips 10-15-2009 08:53 PM

Thanks Ak for the latest, Will keep the prayers going here for as long it takes.

protoZ 10-15-2009 09:04 PM

good to hear progress is being made, its not easy but im sure you and your family, along with your dad will make it through this.

HybridFusion 10-15-2009 10:11 PM

Best wishes, and it is good to know he's getting better.

XwChriswX 10-16-2009 09:37 AM

Fantastic news AK, the road to a full recovery is long, and it may not seem like much progress is being made, but as they pull him off of the assistance machines and he's goin for himself it will make it alot easier for you. The best part is that there were no complications from the surgery itself. Thats very good!

bloodo 10-16-2009 03:46 PM

Hope he gets better soon.

radiZh 10-16-2009 09:53 PM

Don't worry, your dad will be feeling better in no time. Glad to hear the good news!

. . . that's what matters!

Togo 10-17-2009 10:45 AM

Very happy to hear that your fathers vitals are showing process and that he is doing better. The heart recovery process is slow but very pleased to see he is on his way!

dcrew1x 10-17-2009 11:01 PM

Oh man,

I just now read your story. I'm glad he's past the surgery.

Best wishes to a speedy recovery from here!

Still in my prayers!

AK370Z 10-18-2009 12:09 AM

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your support and prayers.

He is kinda in a no change status right now. His heart is not very strong (considering he just had a huge surgery). They are giving him some medicine to keep his blood pressure stable. I think the plan is to slowly take away pressure meds and see how he does. He is still intubated. This is going to be a slow process. I am at the hospital from 8a to 10P EVERYDAY. :( I hope he feels better soon.

Trips 10-18-2009 12:14 AM

Thats good AK, We're here praying for him God bless.

Lady Z 10-18-2009 12:29 AM

Happy to hear news of your fathers progress. Even though he cannot respond be assured that your presence, talking to him and holding his hand or touching him will give him the motivation and strength he needs. It's very strong medicine!

blue660r01 10-18-2009 12:34 AM

HEy blue, thanks for the thought. He is in such critical condition, I'm really avoiding too much guest visit. I don't know if you'll believe me or not, I have ONLY allowed my mom to come see him and that's it. I am telling everyone else to wait a little until he gets better. Me and my brother are usually sitting next to him the whole time on the corner WITHOUT being in the way of nurses and doctors. The reason is to create as less interruption as possible and let them focus on him more during these critical times. Thanks a lot though!

StLRedrider 10-18-2009 12:53 AM

thats probably the best thing with all that flu bug crap going on, i hope he keeps getting better ak, stay strong.

I really hope you don't mind a tiny bit of advice from a brand new member; cherish the time you have right this second and don't waste time being worried about tomorrow. I'd do anything to have just one more hour with my dad. I wish you the best AK.

Hey AK,

My parents did the same thing to us when my grandmother had her heart surgery. My thoughts are with you and your family, a couple of years ago my dad had life threatening medical problems so I'm feeling your stress and worries, I keep hope for you and your father.
