in the summer time, it's not really necessary to do so.....but when it gets a bit cold...warming up is good !!...it will actually save you some gas if you use the block heater... letting it warm up will warm up the oil, all the valves and the catalytic converter...which needs a certain temp before it actually cleans the emissions.
