Bluetooth is through it's own Alpine unit to the head unit with a separate mic, best wired to the sunvisor. It's actually a lot clearer than my current OEM installed BT in my JCW Mini. Steering wheel controls can be used if the enclosed AXXES is programmed correctly. It's easy, just takes a bit of patience to go through the sequence of flashing lights. Or you can just hook up two wires, self-recognize and at least have volume control at the wheel. With the Ipod adapter (included), your iphone/ipod will integrate in the head unit's screen for menu control over albums and the like. Additionally, Pandora now makes an APP just for this HU so you can stream Pandora in the car, as well as integration into the head unit screen menu's. It really is sweet set up, especially for the Iphone/Ipod generation...
