I don't want to start a big debate, but since the OP was looking for opinions (i believe), I would like to say that overlays are ricers who own things like hondas. Don't be lame adding stuff that doesn't do anything for your car. You may as well throw a wing on the car too.
Now, direct replacement, that's a different story. Depending on the weight savings, that could be slick.
