Open the hood and let it shut from about 12" high. The hood has two latches on either side instead of a single latch in the middle. If the hood isn't closed from a certain height and with the right amount of force, it can look misaligned as one latch catches while the other one doesn't.
I noticed it after detailing my car for the first time. I popped the hood to detail the engine bay and when I closed it, it did the same thing. I freaked out and thought the the hood was misaligned.
