in answer to your question, yes, all you need is the 6 piston front upgrade kit (comes with all mounting hardware and new brake lines) and sport rotors.

As for not upgrading the rears, I don't think there would be much difference. The pad size isn't much bigger on the rear akebonos as on the stock calipers.
