Default Any lawyers or legal minds out there?

Here's the situation. When we built our house two years ago I hired a company to build a custom travertine shower. Fast forward two years and the whole shower has to be ripped out because of poor workmanship and cutting corners. Cost to replace the shower will be $3-$4k. My home owner's insurance denied the claim due to faulty workmanship.

The company that the guy had has no bond on file and it looks like he is out of business. However he is still around locally and reachable. My question is do I have a legal avenue to pursue him, or does his company shield him from all liablity on a personal level? I was able to talk to him once on the phone but now he refuses to answer e-mails or calls from me.
