Default GB EOI: Z34 Coupe Harness bar

I have commisioned a harness bar for my 370Z, so I can use my HANS device when tracking my Z34, and wondered whether anyone on this forum wanted to express an interest or sign-up for a group buy.

The bar runs to the rear of the seats at the height of the seat top (not being the top of the headrest) and will bolt into the bodyshell using the bolts that hold the top seat belt pivot points high up on the B-pillar. You will retain your OEM lap-sash belts. The bar will be fitted with a pair of threaded sleeves to accept screw in eye-bolts for the harness shoulder straps behind both seats.

The lap straps will clip into eye-bolts that replace the rear seat rail bolts to create a 4-point harness. It is important to note that for road-use, you retain your OEM 3-point seatbelt.

The bar will be steadied (to stop it rotating) back the the bracket under the plastic shroud over the bar that ties the sides of the car together.

It will require that the plastic shroud on each side covering the space where the cross-brace bolts into the body to have a 19mm hole drilled into it so that the steady bar can bolt into the chassis. A trim coloured grommet plug will be available to cover the hole if the bar is removed.

The bar will be fabricated from 44mm (1.75") CDS tube with minimum yield strength of 350Mpa and depending on the supplier, most probably 450Mpa. It will be supplied powder-coated in satin black.

Expected cost will be ~A$400-450 (around US$375 plus postage of ~US$60) if I can find 5 starters (I expect to get a couple of interested parties from the Oz-based Zed forums).

If there are any Z34 owners who'd like to participate, please PM me. The prototype will be in my car on Wednesday next week and I can post photo's then if you wish to see photo's first.

This will be proceeding, as I am prepared to fund the first 5 units tio get it off the ground.
