Don't have a good answer for you concerning being able to download phonebook to Nav system since my Iphone is no longer recognized by my cars Nav system (check USB connection is all I get). Previous to downloading Apples 4.0 software, my Iphone worked fine with my cars system. I think that's the most fustrating thing about this whole situation..
