I would be scared using 5w40 or 5w50 for the car. The viscosity while hot is too much. The rule is simple go lower than recommended never higher.

Recommended by Nissan: 5w30
You can use synthetic:
-5w30
-5w20
-5w10
-0w30
-0w20
-0w10

I would recommend 5w20 though. It's always better to go a tad lower.
